The biology research center at SRS in Aiken recently conducted a study on how far north the pythons can spread, their conclusion was the Okefenokee swamp.

Interesting study in The Seminole Newspaper mentions this result of a study:

In order to get an idea of just how far north into the U.S. the pythons could migrate and survive, researchers in a 2009 experiment transported 10 Burmese pythons to live in contained environments in South Carolina. The study was performed to discover how cold temperatures could be to remain suitable for the pythons. The snakes survived through summer, fall, and 12 days into December until temperatures fell below freezing for longer periods of time and all of the snakes died. These results led to predictions that Burmese Pythons could survive in climates as far north as South Carolina.

More than you want to know about. It is a serious problem.

No doubt. Invasive species with just about every mammal on its food radar.

Redlinerobert, we have several different species of boas and pythons plus a few different lizards. Birds and monkeys. Lord knows all the different invasive fish in the waters. Supposedly a few venomous species also.

I read about the 18 footer on Yahoo news, the article mentioned that 150,000 pythons are believed to be in the Glades.
