wperry Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 My daughter lives in Palm Beach Gardens. I visit a few times a year from Delaware. I would be willing to pay expenses if someone from that area would be willing to drag me along bass fishing in that area. I have my own gear. Just costs too darn much to tow my boat down for a week. I'll fish Big O once or twice with a guide also. Please pm if interested. Quote
Super User geo g Posted February 16, 2014 Super User Posted February 16, 2014 Bill, sorry for the lack of response. I have a boat but fish at least 5 days a week from the bank. There is no lack of spots to fish in Palm Beach County from the bank. You have as much a chance of a big bass from the bank as in the boat. If you fish the canals look for culvert pipes or flood control structures. If the water is flowing you have a good shot of a big fish. In palm beach I would hit Lake Osbourne at Prince Park. Lots of fish and you should see some bedding from the shore. I have done that several afternoons, years ago. The park is close to the Palm Beach Airport. Out west you have Loxahatchee and several spots for bank fishing. In south Florida if you find water it has bass in it. All the canals and lakes are tied into the flood control system and fish and gators move in and out through the culvert pipes. Just keep your eyes open for the slivering stuff, they are there. Good luck whatever you do. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 16, 2014 Super User Posted February 16, 2014 Geo is right, the canals can hold some really nice bass. In these canal ya gotta keep moving and cover water, sometimes there is just a limit of how far you can walk, that's the only real advantage to being in a boat. Quote
Ltrain Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Hey all, Been on this site a bunch of times as a visitor for some great info in the past. Instead of starting my own thread I figured I'd just jump on this one. I'll be in town visiting a good friend in Jupiter early March and looking to see if any one would offer up any more info for a bank beater like myself. I'm also looking to take a guide trip to one of the area fisheries and was wondering if anyone was interested in splitting a trip. Also interested in meeting up with a local to fish some spots. I'll be looking for posts or you can pm direct! Quote
Super User geo g Posted February 17, 2014 Super User Posted February 17, 2014 Jupiter is a great place for some big snook fishing in the brackish canal systems. Don't know anything about bass fishing up there. If you find freshwater bodies you;ll find bass. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 17, 2014 Super User Posted February 17, 2014 I don't much about bass up there either, but it's not that much further up to Ft Pierce or Sebastion, now that's a real fishery. Quote
OkeechobeeAngler Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 The snook were biting great here in Ft. Pierce last week. Quote
wperry Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 Holy cow! Thanks for the responses. Don't think my wife will let me fish 24/7 when I'm down there, but it sure looks possible. Thanks again for the responses. I think I've responded to all the PM's. I'm worn out from cold weather this winter. Hopefully going down on about 2/28. Great bunch of guys. I'll try to give a report when I get back! Quote
Ltrain Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Just wanted to bump this up one more time. As mentioned before, I'll be up by Jupiter early but willing to travel most areas of PB County as I will be pretty open in my schedule. Mainly looking for small water for walking banks (like canals, retention ponds, etc). If anyone would like to meet up and fish I'd be game for that. Just FYI, I'm not looking for people to readily give up spots they've spent a lot of time and effort to find. I'm looking for some guidance and a nudge in the right direction. If you've got a boat and need a back seat filled (will share fuel etc). The snook fishing has peeked my interest considerably and any tips on that would be appreciated as well! Help a guy out! You can contact via PM. Thanks all. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 20, 2014 Super User Posted February 20, 2014 About any stand up guy is going to tell you where to catch fish, there are no secrets here. Beach snook are hard to come by this time of year, as good a place as any is Hobe Sound or near the pier at Juno, free parking. Snook for the most part are caught in the first or second trough (space in between the waves), they hit about any kind of lure or jig. depending wind strength and ground swell washing up on the beach you may need a little casting distance. We have been catching some nice spanish makerel off the beach, needing a bit distance I've been using a hopkins spoon. Another place to try is the intracoastal in Palm Beach just north of Flagler bridge, 20-30 lb jacks are not uncommon there around daybreak, try a top water. Quote
Ltrain Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Thanks for the info SirSnook. Much appreciated. Quote
