I was wondering how everyone is liking the huddleston weedless grass minnow. I was thinking about getting a few.

It's good.....but for the cost of one stick to a regular hollowbody swimbait like SK Shadalicous, Yum Money minnow or anything like that.  The Hudd is a nice bait but there is nothing about it that excels over other hollowbody brands.

The one and only I had was bitten off by a pike.  I won't buy anymore. my $.02

It's not going to draw the strikes from the fish I KNOW you are targeting.

What can your gear handle?

I have different rods and reels from medium action spinning rods up to  a heavy action 7'6"  baitcasting rod I use for flippin and pitchin. What would you suggest ?

Or how deep are your pockets?

I wouldn't mind spending some money on a couple good quality lures as long as they will produce big bass. Prob would like to keep it under 30 bucks a lure.

In that price range and for your equipment I'll suggest a 68 hudd and a 9" MS Slammer.

I always throw this out there, I'm not a hudd guy. I fish them but I dont like them. They work for a TON of guys and because I'm pretty sure you like to drag a jig this bait would suit your style.

An even lower priced option for dragging (depending on how snaggy your bottom comp is) would be the River2Sea Bottom Walker.

I like throwing whatever they want to bite, jig, spinnerbait, plastics, buzzbait, crankbait. I have thought about getting a hudd  or 3. Still deciding what to do.

Hudd 68 would be a great option. I am a big jig guy and actually enjoy fishing my 68. Mattlures U2 gill isn't a big bait, but would be another option. We have a lot of gills around here and I did well on the U2 last year. I'm really excited to fish the U2 this spring around the spawn.

I personally love the grass minnow. I caught some decent fish on it. Nothing huge but it draws bites from just about anything. It makes the size and color of the hatch here perfectly. The do have a really so ROF so its not really a deep bait.

I prefer the weedless shad over the grass minnow but both of them are more for catching keepers than catching big fish in my experience. The shads outfish regular hollowbellys by a wide margin in the heavily pressured lakes around here.

X2 on the RTS Bottom Walker, I like the 6" size.

I have had some success on them as well as the Hudd weedless shad, which are a little larger and heavier.
