Bass Pro Shop in Cary NC (about 15 minutes from our house, instead of the 2.5 hour drive to Charlotte) is opening Feb 12.  There will be an evening of some pros and celebrities including Jimmy Houston, Timmy Horton, Richard Childress, Wesley Walls, Miss NC, George Poveromo, Doug Koenig, and Bob Foulkrod.  They will be signing autographs and letting us take pics with them.  Ready to spend some $$$.

Hate that I will be in Raleigh this weekend instead of next for the opening. NC needs about 3-4 more bass pros shops, good tackle shops are hard to find in the mountains.

Here I thought you were refering to Opening Day, you know the one that's like two months from now. :cry4:

I was excited thinking somewhere Bass season was opening lol.  Lucky you on the new BPS! There are only 2 in Canada so far, luckily I'm only an hour and a half drive from the one in Vaughn.

on another note.....142 days till Bass season opens in my area. :(

Anymore I use a place like BPS to do my browsing, touching/feeling, so on and then really make a purchase online or a place that's having a sale.  Anymore deals are found online at places like Valley Sports or _____  other sites.  I pretty much try to avoid paying full retail for ANYTHING fishing related and that place is pretty much full retail at all times.  Glad you have one opening close so that you can browse and buy things in a hurry.  I have once about 25 minutes away, but I just don't spend much time or $ there.  Maybe they'll have a fish tank or two and you can go marvel at some big ugly bass!

We had a chance for a BPS in Green Bay a couple of years ago. The Packers own a mile of frontage road between the stadium and highway "41" Just off highway "41 was borrow pit that was used to provide fill for a 3 lane street to the stadium. The Packers want to develop their land for income. BPS wanted to put in a store at that site. Fast forward: The local "tree huggers" decided that because the borrow pit had cattails, it was a goose nesting site. ( we have 50 miles of goose nesting sites on both sides of Green Bay) After the local media sold out to the "tree huggers" BPS said FU. Two years later, guess what is on that land? A brand new Cabela's. Who do you think paid the Packers more bucks.
