160" is a lot, A-Jay, is that true? I can't inagine the kind of winter you just went thru.

Back in '08 or '09 I think it was, I had an ice dam that damaged the walls and ceiling in my addition and kitchen. The following spring I repaired the roof and ceilings and have had no problems since.

This past fall, I painted the walls and ceilings in the addition, kitchen and hall. As luck would have it, I got another ice dam and have sheetrock staining on the beam that separates the kitchen and addition.

Not gonna fool around this time, the roof on my house is at the end of it's life expectancy, so I'm planning on replacing the roof and I'll repair the sheetrock on the beam. Just another home repair job I really didn't want to do this year!...LOL

Yes it is true and it's not actually that big of a deal as we average 150 - Snow Belt.

And I have used the roof rake but have since switched to a pair of most excellent Micro Spikes for my boots.  Make shoveling the roof much safer.  The roof rake works but not really the best for this much snow.   Some of the commercial snow removal guys actually lift up snow blowers to do the large jobs.

That's always a concern for sure but by the time I get up there we are far enough into the winter season that there is already an ice base on the roof that's at least a half inch or more thick.

This keeps the spikes from actually digging into the shingles.

So the thing that makes going up there in the first place so hazardous is still sort of a good thing.

Plus that ice assists in sliding the snow down & off the roof.

btw - we also wear these running most of the winter - a real game changer as far as safe footing is concerned.  (they do add a bit of weight though)

Nice.

And not to be left out and despite the insanity thus far ~ we're going to get Blasted again as well.

When this craziness is finally over and we're actually able to get out on the water again, for one thing we will have earned it and secondly,

there will be some serious Long Days & Nights on the Lake.  I'll be working hard to fish this wildness behind me.

And enjoying every second of it.

Hang in there.

This is a shot of a school up on Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula which is north of me.

They usually get a bit more snow than we do - But Not This Winter.

We've got them by almost 4 feet.

I am really hoping this does not become a trend.

I felt bad for you Ajay, then I watched a show on the weather channel last night. A guy got caught in his car during a blizzard, and it snowed heavily for 2 WEEKS straight. After the 2 weeks, 8 feet of snow had fallen, and he had survived on minimal food and a tank of gas to ration the heat in his car. I can't remember where this was, but it was in the states somewhere. I should find out where, so I can stay the hell away.

We are suppose to have a snow over the weekend.  Makes me wonder what spring is going to be like, or if we'll go straight into summer.
