Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 7, 2014 Super User Posted February 7, 2014 I've been toying with the idea of getting a new inshore outfit. I'm having a very hard time justifying as all my equipment is working perfectly. One day I want something new, the next day I ask myself what the hell do I need it for. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 When you purchase a NRX... Just to have a NRX How about buying 5 NRX, just to add to the 5 you already have? Quote
primetime Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I've come to understand that I could be doing worse things with my money than buying fishing tackle. Say, for instance, that I collected cocaine. At the end of the day all I'd have to show for it would be a runny nose. Everybody has a jones for something. Collecting Cocaine would not be efficient...Storage & Display is often tough from what I understand, and losing or discovering that your collection was either gone or evaporated could be worse than worring about a chartruese grub getting wet & bleeding into your best soft plastics.... However, I think you would improve your night fishing Skills rather quickly, and I would suggest Investing in a Reel with a VERY SLOW GEAR RATIO before embarking on this possible collection.... To be serious, I am 100% addicted to fishing & Buying way too much tackle & gear and it is something my girlfriend is constantly discussing with me whenever I am home and not fishing or taking the dog to the park (Dog parks have great Ponds for Big Bass) and I really never hear what she is saying as I am usually focused like a laser on Google Maps looking for access points to the next "Secret Spot" that I scout & fish every morning before work.....But I get my fix even if the pond or lake is not any good because then I have all day at work to scout for a new lake or pond to fish after work.....And if I have a good week, I may score at night, and we all know how much fun a good night trip can be especially on new water when a double digit fish could explode on your next cast....Plus I explained to her that it Takes till Midnight for a Largemouth Bass to start feeding as their eyes take a long time to adjust, and on nights when there is a full moon, they flat out can't see until first light.... I am going to die alone as an old man with me, My dog, Fishing Gear.....and when I die, someone is going to probably get the score of their lives on craiglist.....I alway's feel guilty when I get a huge tackle lot off of craigs list as I feel the fishing gods are never happy with me when I start arranging all the lures, changing trebles etc....I have some Hardcore Bass Anglers looking down on me with scorn for sure as they would hate my custom paint jobs on their hard baits with a sharpie 1 Quote
primetime Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Since The beginning of Feb, I've been going through and trying to organize all the lures and worms I have. My wife is flat out amazed at the amount of tackle I have ( and so am I). Over the last few years I've been going to all the tackle shops within 100 miles of me (nice thing about riding motorcycles) at least once a week and going through all the clearance bins. I wouldn't buy everything in the bins, but I now have three guide series tackle boxes and about 15 of the Plano 3750 storage boxes of every color of the rainbow hard baits. over a hundred bagsof every brand of worm, craw, tube, fluke and creature. 3 boxes of spinners, two boxes of buzz baits. How much money I've spent since I started to bass fish is flat out sickening. I look at all the rod set-ups I have (well into the $2k range). All this just to catch a fish, that more than likely, I'm going to throw back into the lake (unless I know its going to die from the hook extraction). Yup! I would say I have crossed O.C.D. line and have no plan to turn back. I'm just going to have to get a bigger boat to carry all the "MUST HAVE" tackle. Trust me on this one....It will not get any better unnless you somehow get hooked on something else to spend your money on....I have so much tackle that it gives me anxiety when I see it all, and I can easily fill a mini van with softbaits and lures...Rods and equipments are in storage units.....It all started when Sports authority closed down there fishing dept, and I was able to get 90% off of anything they had and I cleaned out 4 stores to "Make Money and Sell at Flea markets etc." I can't sell it, that would be stupid, I saved 90% on thousands of top quality lures, packs of line, Hooks, and the huge Offshore and Saltwater Lures that I never use were the best deal of them all on paper....d**n those bins that Gander, Bass Pro, Dicks, and all the liquidators put out so you are forced to peel back the top layer......wow, I am about to have a panic attack with all the money I have wasted, although I am sure I could actually still turn a profit if I could sell the stuff, but I can't...I love it, My tackle Display makes me an instant Champion when I step near the water!!! Anyone reading this,.....start checking the buy and sell page on this site because I actually have to get rid of alot of stuff and am happy just getting cost for most of it, and some I will give away to some beginerrs I think. I don't have room to buy new stuff and stuff is getting obsolete even though it is still in original packaging.... Quote
primetime Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Today I went through all my tackle, integrating the new stuff over the past few months in both my tournament and every day carry bags (that statement right there says a lot). I was astounded by the amount of tackle. It was like watching a 650 lb. man eating an entire cake... it puts you off food for a while. I think it will be a time before I buy something new. And that was just hard lures... Nobody likes a quiter..... 1 Quote
Stlbob Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 when you have several old style drawer tackle boxs and you arrange them in a circle and move different types of lures from one to the other and then you remember you have several trays of hard baits you picked up in a trade on CL and drag those out and spend several hours doing it.. to no foreseeable conclusion... Quote
pancityhanman Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 stopped at dick's and they were having a clearance on about 98% of their tackle. oh my, i should have never went in! 3700 and 3600 boxes on clearance, just couldnt help myself as the ten or so emptys i have now may just not be enough. LOL guess the coffin boxes will have to wait for a while, just purchased about 8 of the old shimano boxes time to re-organize- again! oh well there are worst vices to have i guess. Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted February 12, 2014 Super User Posted February 12, 2014 In the early years of our relationship, my girlfriend bought me a lure or two if she found them cheap at a garage sale. Now, she doesn't. I think she's fearful she's going to fuel the fire. Clearly, she thinks I have too much stuff. But out of fairness, I generally buy baits which are on sale and I have far less stuff than if I didn't put half of it back before I went to the cash register. The sickness has spread to what I call "in-fishermanitis" where I now collect walleye, pike, and smallmouth baits. While I do go to Canada once a year, I must operate under the dillusion that I actually live there-or that I actually fish for walleye. What I need now, more than anything, is a pack mule (or elephant) for carrying all my stuff and an assistant (kind of like a surgical nurse) who can tie on and hand me whichever rod/reel and bait I might "beckon" for. Maybe then might I begin to approach using all of my stuff. Quote

The reinforced square bill bites into the water more effectively that the original bill, redistributing water flow along the belly for a sharper, wider darting capabilities. It also features the Megabass “muli-way moving balancer system” (PAT.P) for longer casting and optimal balance on the pause. Also a great choice for fishing in current, the 110 Square Bill generates a precise and delicate realistic action that bass can’t resist. Available in a wide range of the famous Megabass colors, the Megabass Ito Vision 110 Square Bill delivers proven Japanese performance that only the mind of master lure designer, Yuki Ito, could create.Megabass Ito Shiner Hook size #4 (Suspending) - $25.99(1) Color: GG. Now available to anglers all across the USA, the Megabass Ito Shiner is a serious threat to bass with its high-pitch rolling and erratic lunging action. Internally, the Megabass Ito Shiner is equipped with a tungsten weight-transfer system for increased casting distances, and 30% more side-to-side movement. Externally, the Megabass Ito Shiner is 5mm longer than the 110 and slightly taller, which gives it more surface area and, in turn, more flash. Super User Teal Posted February 12, 2014 Super User Posted February 12, 2014 How do u know? When you sit down and seriously complemplate wheather to use your saved money for a new shallow water anchor AND two new HDS units OR Building your wife her dream kitchen ( new flooring, cabinets, countertops, refridgerator, and including taking down a wall to increase size of dining room). I've been brewing on this one for two weeks.... 1 Quote
Super User bigbill Posted February 13, 2014 Super User Posted February 13, 2014 I'm a tackle hoarder, a tackle junkie, a man hooked on fishing equipment. But a man who could fish for any species in my area in a minutes notice. I could lose my two stuffed tackle boxes and still be able to refill it three times over maybe more with what I have in-house. I have large boxes filled with bomber cranks, Norman cranks, plastics etc. I take my fishing very seriously. My tackle room is so stuffed I can just about walk in there. I drop 2k+ in a heart beat in a month on new tackle and equipment. There opening up a never fished water shed soon here for fishing. It's minutes from my house. I'm ready to go. I fill my kids tackle boxes too. Quote
mjseverson24 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I wouldnt say I am a hoarder, I dont buy equipment because I like the stuff I buy it because I believe it will help me catch more and bigger fish. that being said I probably have enough gear to last about 5 years without ever going to a sporting goods store. papajoe222 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 When you purchase 30 shakey heads and the ice hasnt even come off yet. X2, Or when you purchase a lure you've never tried out in six different colors and sizes. Quote
AQUA VELVA Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I don't seem to have any trouble getting rid of tackle till it comes to crankbaits. I have a good size plastic tub filled with dehooked CB's, most of which, never caught a fish. I would no sooner get my check cashed and I would head straight for the nearest Lures-R-Us store. Im surprised that they did'nt send a limo out to my house to pick me up. That was back in the early 90's and now that Im much older and somewhat wiser, I look at all my lure purchases with a critical eye. Still, I had a great time like any kid in a candy store would. Quite a few of those plugs are no longer in production so who knows, maybe some day they may be worth something. In the meantime, Im thinking of a CB Christmas tree this year. By the way, I also musky fish and had the same problem there. Quote
BuckMaxx Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Does buying 200 crank baits in the last 10 days count as a hoarder? Quote
0119 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Does buying 200 crank baits in the last 10 days count as a hoarder? Yes, unless your on the BASS Elite trail and a reknowned crankbait fisherman! Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 14, 2014 Super User Posted February 14, 2014 Referencing another thread " are you fisherman", my answer is I must not be. I have no more than 15 or so lures scattered on table with no organization, few packs of plastics, 2 or 3 spinning outfits I use. I do fish 7 days a week, not that keep track of how many caught but I'm sure in a years time the totals add up, don't get skunked too often and I hardly ever use a plastic worm. Being in Florida I'm sure I've caught some decent sized ones as well. I don't horde, I lose something I just go replace what I've lost. Quote
dam0007 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 @talonman that's dedication to type all that up! 1 Quote
RT25 Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 i don't know if this qualifies me but when I buy any lure I usually buy the lure in each size and colorright from the gate. Typically I fill a 360 box with a given lure because I buy each size and color. I don't know why I guess I figure myself for something of a collector as well, I don't care if a lure never goes in the water I like knowing I have em if the situation calls for it! Quote
Talonman Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 @talonman that's dedication to type all that up! I am now keeping an active inventory of all my stuff... My list is growing all the time. Quote
