Super User Crestliner2008 Posted February 3, 2014 Super User Posted February 3, 2014 I love reading entertaining paperbacks, which I can take with me to doctor's appointments, etc.. Just finished two good books:1) A Jack Reacher Novel: Worth Dying For (Lee Childs, author)2) Winter Moon, by Dean KoontzI liked Koontz's writing style so much, that I've just started his series on Frankenstein. This was suppose to be a TV movie, but director, Scorsese and Koontz backed out, when NBC decided to make it into a series, instead of a one-time movie. Should be an interesting read. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted February 4, 2014 Super User Posted February 4, 2014 If you want a historical book, may I recommend Our Southern Highlanders by Horace Kephart? Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted February 4, 2014 Super User Posted February 4, 2014 Any of the other Jack Reacher books by Lee Child. There are 16 or 17 in all. The entire "Pendergast" series by Preston and Child. Read them in order. there are quite a few of these also. John Sanford's Prey series. Again, quite a few in the set, which you should read in order, but don't really have to. Michael Connolly's Harry Bosch series. Quite a few of these also. Robert Parker's Spencer series. Must be thirty or so of these. Start at the beginning. just finished the entire series in order, and it is interesting to see how the character develops over the years. Anything by James Clavell, particularly Shogun. It is a classic. If you read one per week, I've just given over a two year's worth. Quote
Mike2841 Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 the road by cormac mccarthy is pretty good Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted February 4, 2014 Super User Posted February 4, 2014 I really enjoy the Alex Cross series by James Patterson (sp?). Just about everything Louis L'amour wrote, The Haunted Mesa is a good read and not a western. The Beating Drum set in the moors of England 1600's and Jubal Sackett are a couple others. Brad Meltzer also writes a good book. Quote
plumworm Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Any of the W.E.B. Griffin series. Great historical fiction. Quote
shootermcbob Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I do NOT recommend Health Care Finance, third edition. Sahara desert dry. Quote
