bartdude186 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I have used both and they are both good reels for the money but i prefer the PQ and have now put them on just about all of my rods. Quote
daiwaguy Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I would go Exceller because it has some really nice features and you can pick them up for alot less than a PQ right now. Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted February 3, 2014 Super User Posted February 3, 2014 I don't think that either one is necessarily "better" than the other. They are different. Different braking systems, different line capacities. The PQ is available in more gear ratios, the Daiwa has more line capacity. Determine the features that are most important to the type of fishing that you do and pick the reel that best suits your needs. Then, go catch some fish.... Quote
Fish Murderer 71 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 NEITHER! ABU GARCIA REVO STX!!! JMHO! Quote
daiwaguy Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I would say the STX is more than he is wanting to spend considering he mentioned $99 reels and not $199 reels. Unless he finds a good deal on a used one. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted February 3, 2014 Super User Posted February 3, 2014 Plus abu is sub par anyways lol 1 Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted February 3, 2014 Super User Posted February 3, 2014 I like the Exceler, but you can't go wrong with either. Quote
mjseverson24 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 they are both great reels for their price range, I think the new cabelas version of the exceller with the mag z is also a good option. its a coin flip for me, i guess the deciding factor is the pq is an easier reel to cast without backlashes, but i think the daiwa will have better cast performance assuming you are a relatively experienced caster.
