Super User Felix77 Posted February 1, 2014 Super User Posted February 1, 2014 If you could carry 6 spinnerbaits to cover as many situations as possible what would they be? Color, blade combinations and weight. Quote
nascar2428 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 This is a true exercise in futility for me. Having said that, I will keep it simple. Two of the following colors, white, black, and chartreuse. Each color consisting of a Colorado blade and a double willow leaf in gold and silver. All of them will be 1/2oz. 1 Quote
Lip 'em! Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 1. (Obviously) White/Chartruese 3/8oz double willow 2. Blue glimmer shad pattern 3/8oz double willow 3. Bluegill pattern 3/8oz double willow. 4. Black/Red 1/2oz single colorado for muddy water and night fishing 5. White/Chartruese 1oz large single willow "ledgebuster" for deep slow-rolling 6. 1/2oz double willow with skirt removed and a swimbait threaded on the hook (shushhhh ) These 6 choices can cover all water depths and temps, as well as account for clarity and forage species. Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 2, 2014 Global Moderator Posted February 2, 2014 3/8oz tandem Colorado/willow leaf War Eagle in Sexy Mouse 3/8oz tandem Colorado/Indiana Booyah chart/white 1/2oz double willowleaf War Eagle Screaming Eagle in Spot Remover 5/16 tandem Colorado/Oklahoma War Eagle Finesse in white 5/16 tandem Colorado/Oklahoma War Eagle Finesse chart/white 1/2 tandem Colorado/willow leaf 50/50 blades custom chart/white I don't fishing spinnerbaits very often, hard for me to even come up with 6 honestly. Funny thing is, I probably carry 100 different spinnerbaits and these are the only 6 I fish with any regularity. Quote
tbone1993 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 I would just get 4 advantage spinnerbaits. The blades are interchangeable and so are the skirts. 1/4 , 1/2, 3/8 , 3/4. Gill, white, gizzard, chart white. Just keep extra blades and skirts so you can mix and match. You can have 4 spinnerbaits that service multiple different purposes just by having extra skirts and blades on hand. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted February 2, 2014 Super User Posted February 2, 2014 This is easy for me as I normally use the "6-pack" when trying new water. 1. 1/4oz double willow - color depends on conditions. 2. 1/4oz Indiana/Colorado tandem - color depends on conditions. 3. 3/8oz double willow - color depends on conditions 4. 1/2oz double willow - color depends on conditions. 5. 1/2oz Indiana/Colorado tandem - color depends on conditions. 6. 1/2oz single Colorado - Black and Red with Brass or black nickel blade. Those 6 will cover all your bases fairly well, there are a lot more but those are basic, the 1/4oz bait is small so you aren't going to want a thumper blade in that size. A 3/8oz double willow is what I call an all purpose bait, the reason I only have one is because the 1/4oz with the tandem Indiana/Colorado will cover the smaller, hard vibrating bait and the 1/2oz covers the larger area so you don't need to have one in the middle too, but you can go with a single 1/4oz double willow and add the tandem to the 3/8oz is you like the heavier side. The reason I don't have any single blade thumpers in smaller sizes is because of the lift, you need at minimum a 1/2oz bait for a thumper as it won't lift as fast as the smaller ones. This list will cover shallow burning to mid depth slow rolling and everywhere in between. Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 2, 2014 Super User Posted February 2, 2014 2 ea. 1/4 oz Stanley Vibra Shaft, double willow gold, white skirt. 2 ea. 3/8 oz Stanley Vibra Wedge, double willow gold, white skirt 2 ea. 1/2 oz Stanley Vibra Wedge, double willow gold, white skirt Quote
5fishlimit Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Just grab any 6 War Eagle spinnerbaits, and those are what I would choose. Quote
jhoffman Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 All mine would be white/chartreuse, plain white, or white with black/white bars at the top 9 out 10 times its gonna be a willow main in nickle with a gold colorado, blades can change based on water Quote
Super User Raul Posted February 3, 2014 Super User Posted February 3, 2014 I´ve got over 100 spinnerbaits, do I need them ? nope, why ? cuz I end up fishing with the same old: 3/8 oz single gold Tennessee blade white & chartreuse skirt 3/8 oz single nickel Tennessee blade black skirt 3/8 oz tandem gold white & chartreuse skirt 3/8 oz tandem gold chartreuse & lime skirt 1/2 oz copper double willow white skirt See, I don´t even need 6 I do well with 5. BTW, the black skirted one is only used during very low light conditions ( from sunset till dawn ) so that will make it more 4 than 5. Why I got so many if I only use so few ? well ..... I like to spend money stupidly in tackle. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted February 3, 2014 Super User Posted February 3, 2014 1/4 oz Terminator T-1 Oklahoma/Colorado Gold/Nickel 1/4 oz Terminator T-1 Willow/Colorado Nickel/Nickel 3/8 oz Terminator T-1 Willow/Colorado Gold/Nickel 3/8 oz Terminator T-1 Oklahoma/Colorado Gold/Nickel 3/8 oz Terminator T-1 Double Willow Nickel/Nickel 1/2 oz Terminator T-1 Oklahoma/Colorado Gold/Nickel I'm not going to list color, because that depends on conditions and being that they're all Terminators, they all come with quick skirts so I would be able to swap colors as needed. With that combination of baits too, I could swap blades to make my own personal combination. That being said I still carry 35-40 around with me lol Quote
Super User Raul Posted February 3, 2014 Super User Posted February 3, 2014 That being said I still carry 35-40 around with me lol Me too, better have and not need than need and not have. That would be a nice epitaph for my tombstone after I drow cuz my 12 tub sank with all the weight of the tackle I load in it. 1 Quote
