Brian Needham Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 My ccw qualification course recently put me in the same boat as you Needham. If you put forth the time, (8hrs) and money you passed, I'll leave it at that. I guess I am a "closet gun nut" I enjoy shooting, the extra training, shopping for ammo, watching balistic videos, ect ect . I always wanted my ccw and finially took the class last year. I didnt want to carry with just the CCW class behind me.... I took extra classes, and still want to take more (never can be good enough). really look forward to a force on force class, hope to take it late this year. My new years resolution this year is to carry everytime I leave the house. Guns in my mind are the "coolest"/most important thing you will ever own that hopefully nobody ever sees. 1 Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 6, 2014 Super User Posted February 6, 2014 Indeed....need to relocate to "free America" or what's left of it! Free America? Last I checked I was free to move about as I wished without the need of "papers", free to live were I choose, free to have the opportunity to get educated, free to choose my career, free to do about anything I care to. I have freedoms that are the *** of the world, and people are no longer required give of themselves to defend those freedoms. Opportunities are limitless here, as Woody Allen put it 80% of life is just showing up. People from all over the world want to come here for opportunity and freedom that just don't exist everyplace. Personally I'm pretty happy I was born here and not a 3 rd world country or behind the iron curtain. If I thought my freedoms were lacking, I'd be looking elsewhere to live. Amazing that's one of our freedoms too, no one is forcing you to stay. The U.S.A...............great place to be. Quote
Brian Needham Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 snook........ yeah we still the best gig going..... but that is also like saying you are the best ballerina in all of montana. We aint what we used to be, right, wrong or indifferent. but for the most part I agree with the words of your post, just not the angle from which it comes. I have read enough of your post to know, nobody expects you to understand any point of view other than your own. So without shattering forum rules I will stop there. 3 Quote

It would be impossible to respond to your reply without getting political, but I can safely say that some people's definition of "Freedom" differ from other's. And for the record... I like Florida! Stlbob Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 just a little cold water to the face here, take 5 mins and google Sochi the issues they are having never would have happened here. while we are no where near perfect we are still the hottest date at the party. the ability that we have to raise cain over things we dont agree with and do it at times in a riducles manner is still unquie and part of what makes us who we are.I served,my dad served, his dad served, and my son and son in law serve now.many have given all they have so we have the freedom to speak out about what we dont like about our own country...find that somewhere else. 1 Quote

The facts are plain and simple, we have plenty of freedom here and I for one appreciate it. I love NY and NYC, bear in mind my background is urban, I like Broadway, I like food, I like fashion, I like museums and art. I like fishing too and New York offers some of the best, Montauk on Long Island is a wonderful saltwater fishery and they is plenty of excellent freshwater fishing in the state too. Quote

I keep wanting a AR type gun, I just havent pulled the trigger...... and I shoot my G19 enough they I really dont want two ammo bills. Almost makes me want to get a AR chambered in 9mm or an MP5 type weapon Fill out the forms. Shell out the cash and wait 4months. Fully auto MP5! They are so much fun to shoot. Cons. They spit ALOT of ammo in an extremely short amount of time. Cost as much as a cheap car to purchase. (One of the MAC series are cheaper and more intimidating. Especially if you tie a blue bandanna to your wrist and fire it sideways.) I don't think they make a drum for them. Pros. They spit ALOT of ammo in an extremely short amount of time. Entirely possible to saw something in half with one. Great for home defense. (Think 9mm shotgun!) Make a very impressive sound if you squeeze the trigger and hold it. Almost like the chatter of an AK spitting fire while chewing through a 100 round drum. I like guns that chatter. They make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Cause I ain't just trigger happy I'm trigger ecstatic! 1 Quote

Not a bad way to spend 400 dollars. Unless it was purchased from a few years back. Then not a bad way to spend 200 dollars. 1 Quote
Stlbob Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 dont own an Ar platform gun i dont like a direct inpingment system.Stoner had some good ideas, that was not one of them.. that is a Sig 556 then other gun is a MSAR an American copy of the great Austrain AUG weapon..both are piston driven rifles..you can empty that drum and pull the bolt out and it is just barely warm.. both have had trigger work done, the Sig had a polish and ramp job done, the internal breech of the barrel had a 32nd of an inch polished bevel done.they will both feed steel, brass what ever you have handy. Those were the 2 i took to the range that got those ol' boys all stirred up....lol... I stand corrected. Rifles like that aren't really my deal. I like AK47s as far as auto/semi autos go. Just something about them. I do like the MSAR a lot. I'm a fan of bull pups. Otherwise I'm all about bolt actions and sub machine guns. More so Bolt actions. Unless it's an auto pistol. Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 10, 2014 Super User Posted February 10, 2014 Gun owners do not carry assault rifles around. Gun owner do carry pistols and hunting guns/rifles around. You usually keep assault rifles at your home or business and only take them to the range for practice. You usually carry pistols on your body and in your vehicles plus hunting weapons. So I would say assault weapons are by far safer than pistols and hunting weapons. But the kooks hate any type of firearm unless their behinds are in a bind. Then we find out that either they or their body guards are carrying or have guns in their homes and vehicles. Go figure. 3 Quote

A simple look at the FBI crime statistics would show anyone that rifles account for less than 1% of all homicides in this country. Even if "assault rifles" (government's made up word for scary looking rifle) were classified in the "other" section of the FBI crime reports, they would still account for less than 5% of all homicides. The stigma of the scary black rifle is all just a figment of the imagination of the ones who lust to disarm law abiding citizens. Your logic would cause the heads of the gun grabbers to burst. . . 1 Quote
unageo09 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 I am finally getting into the AR platform. I have a Palmetto State Armory Complete lower on the way. Should be here Thursday. I'll probably end up getting a PSA upper to match it. I've only shot an AR once so looking forward to finally getting this gun together and out to the range. Quote

200racing Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 i laugh at people that say they aren't for hunting then show them these all with my custom 6.8. in one season. hard to see buttons at 275 yards lever actions were the "assault rifle" of the civil war, now they are iconic "hunting rifles". bolt actions were ground breaking military guns in WWI now the most used hunting rifle on there. post WWII we saw technology spill over and semi autos gain sporting ground. modern sporting rifles are simply a continuation of history.
