jdw174 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 I am SO sick of opening up a box of jigs or SB's and finding another skirt where those *(*&&^&^%$ rubber bands broke and the skirt all through the box. If any of you re-wrap yours, what kind of wire do you use and where do you get it? Barring that, I suppose I could get some wrapping thread and use it instead... Quote
NOVA Angler Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 I was wrapping some jigs last night as a matter of fact. I bought 26 gauge floral wire from Michaels. I slide the rubber band back a little and just wrap it 2 or 3 times and twist the two ends together a few times. Seems to work well, you just have to make sure you get the wire tight enough but not so tight that you cut the skirt. Quote
backwater4 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Any wire is fine, only make sure its not too thin. If it is it'll cut right through when you twist. I've been using .025 stainless on all my jigs for a while now and haven't had or heard of any issues. X2 with leaving the band on until after you make your twists, then just slide it off or cut it. Super User Raul Posted December 28, 2010 Super User Posted December 28, 2010 You can purchase that plastic covered wire tie used for gardening, peel the plastic and use the wire, it 's cheap, has several yards and it can be found in practically any gardening section of a supermarket or HD. Quote

Yea they do, the ones I use are less than 1/8 wide & 4 in length; instead of the tag end sticking up like most it lies flat. I also use a zip tie gun to firmly secure the tie to the lure. Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted December 29, 2010 Super User Posted December 29, 2010 I just retie them with 65lb braid. Quote
