Why are all the Lucky Craft baits $14 and $15?? I have never used them because of their price tag.

Took me a long time to justify paying the price of L/C baits.  When my tournament pardner 'took me to school' and busted my @$$ I broke down and bought some.  They are the best cranks I have ever used.

Quality components, quality design, practically no variation between baits.

So look at it this way:

1 Rapala ---> 7-8 bones a pop

1 great Rapala ----> gotta go through 4-5 baits to find one that runs and works really well so I 'll do the math for you:

4-5 baits x 7-8 dollars = 28-40 dollars

In practical terms which one is more expensive, a 15 dollars LC or a 28-40 dollars Rapala  ?

Because they can charge that much for a quality product which flat out catches fish. I have caught two of my pbs on suspending pointers. They are worth the money as Raul & Triton 21 have indicated.

Great baits, but I will have to see how the Xcalibur squarbills compare in the spring.  LC did get me a nice second place on Vets day, but again, comparatively the XCs look exactly the same (some coloring differences, but...)

As far as the other crank baits, I dunno, Bomber seems to make a quality product without the rapala issue.

Don't get me wrong I think Lucky Craft makes good baits but I do think they are kinda proud of them. The only Lucky Crafts that really have stood out in my book are the pointers. When it comes to deep cranks I would rather throw a deep little N or a DD22 than a CB. I would also take a Rat-L-Trap or a Speed Trap over an LV.

In my opinion... LC have much better and more choices for color patterns. My favorite are the LC staysee and the Gunfish. But I have also done very well on the moonsault cranksbaits. They just have much better action and color choices. and if your carefull with your baits and don't loose them often why not spend an extra 6 or 7 bucks on a lure.

Great baits , if you've got the money buy em , if you don't have the money , that's fine because there are good cheaper baits out there.

Something about them just flat out catches fish. There are cheaper baits out there that I catch plenty of fish with but they are another tool in the toolbox. The new Excalibur squarebill is a very close look alike and it catches fish really well too, they just don't have the selection of colors. The pointers outfish any other jerkbait day in and day out for me.

i think that if you buy 30 "other lures" to 10 lc's you'll just be wasting money on lures that will never touch water... i rarely use hardbaits anyways so when i do i like to have a bait i know will work well, usually a pointer 78,or a miniSKT...in a natural pattern...also when u spend 2-3X more on a lure it gives you "a mental confidence boost"... i dont use lc deepdivers or lipless cranks because you "usually" use them in deep or murky water when the fantastic finishes of lc baits arent as critical...

I do have LC's, and they are better than 9 out of 10 other hardbaits, in my opinion.

The quality like everyone said is the reason for the higher cost. Now should you replace every bait in your tacklebox with a LC, no but some of them really stand out.

My top 3 that are must haves:

Pointer = Size and color dependant on where you fish

RC 1.5 = Best crankbait I own and I have 100's

Gunfish = Don't know why but it outfishes all other walking baits

Personally I hardly ever loose baits because I live in Oregon and almost all the lakes I fish are rocks and some stumps. Not to brag but I fish 10x harder then lots of guys I know and fish tournies with, I loose them in the river sometimes. Just be careful and really try and get the snags out...

What size Gunfish are you fishing and are you catching smallmouth or largemouth with it?

Well, you can't appreciate the difference until you fish a

Lucky Craft. Although I "collect" a number of hard bait brands,

the LC get fished!

I've not had the problem with Rapalas not running true, and I have lots of the DT series. but for suspending minnows you will not beat a LC pointer, and they are worth the money. I agree with some of the others though, that in the deep diving crankbaits you can do just as well with less expensive baits. I do believe that the RC 1.5 & 2.5 series baits are hard to top for shallow cranks. And somebody mentioned the Skeet series. I can't say enough good things about those baits. I've got one of the original Skeet Mini series that is just a fish magnet. Buy a couple of Pointers. You will know why others spend the extra money for them.

Well, I just have to clarufy, never I said that Rapalas were bad ( actually about 80% of all my cranks are Rapala ), I said that in order to find a truely great Rapala you will have to purchase many baits to find that special one that catches fish like crazy, obviously being in this game after such a long time this selection of Rapalas I own was made loooooooong time before LCs appeared in the scene, With LCs you don 't have to purchase a lot of baits to find that special one, the one you get is a special one.

So back again, what 's more expensive, a $15 LC or a 28-40 dollars Rapala ? cuz that 's what 's going to cost you ( and perhaps more ) to get one of those special ones.

keep an eye on some of the fishing forum classified sections and you can get all you want for around 10-12 bucks each shipped... thats cranks, pointers, gunfish, you name it...

give em a try and you wont be going back... I actually sold all my cranks and bought almost all LCs to replace them.... I still have a few standbys in other brands... but not many...
