hey everyone, I am looking to get a new pair of fishing glasses.. right now I have the amphibia's right now an i do like em,But i wanna upgrade to something better.... I want something that is worth the money (does'nt really matter the cost). I am wanting to do alot of sight fishing so I need a good pair of glasses thats gonna allow me to get a visual in the water, The amphibia's are a good brand. They are really nice, I like the fact if they fall off my head landing a fish,They will float! Just trying to see what everyone is wearing an is there a lens that is just pure amazing sight fishing. THanks guys

Costas.

You're not going wrong with taking your fishing glasses seriously.

I got a pair of nice solarbats last year, I like them a lot. Only thing I would change is I shouldve gone with amber lenses.

I've been wearing costas for 3 years.  I tried the glass lens then the gray.  I couldn't see my gps screen with either so I wound up with amber.

I have Costas. They are unbelievable and great for both fishing and everyday use.

Everyone here so far has pretty much said Costas, but ill say that Oakley is also a great choice. I bought a pair of the Radarlock Paths with dark lenses for softball and work and ill tell you what, they are awesome. They are comfy and I can wear them all day.

I wear my Costas most days when I'm out or fishing

I may get a couple laughs and sideways looks for this, but I've used Maui Jims and Oakley polarized sunglasses, but I bought some Spiderwire fishing glasses at Wally World last year when I had forgotten my good ones at the house, and man was I impressed. I didn't notice any worse performance than I got with my others, and they looked quite a bit cooler too.

I know all the specifics that the Spiderwires probably don't have true polarization (probably a film coating), but for a quick-n-dirty pair that you don't choke if they fly overboard, they're pretty decent glasses.

My current high end ones are a pair of Rudy Project glasses.

I'm with you man, I just buy Hobies off ebay, they are decent quality and withstand any abuse. If I happen to lose them its no biggie.

I'm going to be different from all these Costa guys.......I LOVE MY OAKLEY HALF JACKET 2.0 polarized sunglasses. I will swear by Oakley's they cut down on glare like a boss and will protect your eyes from anything. Mine protected my eyes from certain blindness overseas as well as sand and the blinding sun. Plus they are way cheaper than Costa and just as good a quality. Just my .02 worth.

I use the Eye Surrender, I have 2 pair, green lenses and copper lenses, they are like $59.99 and have a lifetime $20 replacement, the lenses have great optical quality but the comfort level is incredible, I often forget I'm wearing them and I used to wear only Maui Jims and I went cheaper with these and I'm happier about it.

I owned a pair of Oakley Hijinx Angling Specific in Shallow Blue and loved them to death they fit well and worked amazingly until I lost them in a river. Then I got a pair of Costa Blackfin in 580G Green Mirror and was even more impressed. They are leaps and bounds better than Oakleys. I swore by my Oakleys until I tried Costas. There are few people who have tried both and will still pick Oakleys over Costas. When it comes to fishing, no one can compete.

I own a pair of 580 Costa Blackfins after losing my Wiley X's. Honestly, I would rather have my Wiley X's back. Same type of lenses; Amber with blue/green coating. I could see better with the Wileys than my Costas.

The only other complaint I have about the Costa glasses, is mainly my own fault, but they fog a lot on me. I felt that the Blackfins are very comfortable, but apparently too close a fit. This makes me have to pull them away from my face, and allows light behind the glasses which makes them less effective.

Dont get me wrong, they are both good glasses. Very clear, and good polarizing. But I wouldn't leave Wiley's out of this conversation.

I use Oakley Flak Jackets with amber lens. They never fog and I can wear them around all day, whether I'm fishing or playing ball.

I have done the same thing. My go to fishing glasses are now the good ole spiderwire wally world specials for 22 bucks. i have owned a few pairs of costa's, and don't get me wrong they are EXTREMELY nice glasses. but for me the spiderwire glasses are unbeatable for 20 bucks, and i don't cry when i loose them.If they put a different brand on the spiderwire glasses and a 100 dollar price tag they would fool a lot of people lol.

Ive had a pair for 8 years, they are losing the coating on the frame themselves and I still love them. I use these as my daily lenses and keep the solarbats in the boat. Sometimes I never change out.

I have both Oakley's in the Gas Can, Oil Rig, Fuel Cell and Fives all with polarized and have recently bought a pair of Costa Permits.  The reason I switched from Oakley to Costa and was willing to shell out the extra money was because the 400 and 580G lenses are Real Glass Lenses and therefore are better suited to resisting and battling scratching.  I fish hard and am shore bound, so over the course of time I've managed to scratch all of my Oakley's when cutting through brush to get to some of my fishing 'spots'.

As for what I've highlighted in red above, I would suggest for this reason to look at Costa frames that have the vents in the frame somewhere near the lens.  There are multiple models and lens colors to choose from.  Oakley as well has frames/lenses that have vents as well as some other companies.  I would make sure to look for the vents no matter what brand, because you do not want to have to wipe your lenses and interrupt your time on the water.

I wear prescription glasses so wearing a pair of rgular people sunglasses is out for me.  Can anyone recomend a god pair of over prescription glasses sunglases that are good for fishing?  I do not want to have to spend the big dollars on having prescription sunglasses made.  I hate to have to tote 2 pairs of prescriptions around with me, and I am always nervous that I will lose them.

costa 580 glass..........end thread, no more discussion needed.

ha ha....... really though, try several, cause many people's eyes react and view different through different lenses.... Costa, cocoons, ect ect all make good glasses with many people liking them.

I do prefer the Costa Del Mar.

Boy I use Oakleys have 4 total pair. My wire frame with amber hd lenses work the best for depth finding. For instance the one spillway I fish is exactly 15 ft deep where I stand and heavy waves obviously. I can see right to the bottom on most days. Thanks to those days when the huge carp file in (about once a month) they have saved me a lot of hassle of not bothering to fish. They bully out most fish on those days and will snag my bait and snap my line depending on what and how i'm fishing. May have to try the costas though. Usually get a new pair of oakleys every spring and swear by them but whats one odd pair of glasses if they end up being that much better.
