Misshapen Plastics?

So I ordered some plastic baits from TW, and they arrived today. Problem is, some of the bags appear to have been squashed and the baits inside (brush hogs, worms, etc) seem to have warped. They look a little misshapen. For instance, some of the brush hogs are now a little flat looking and have a little bend in them.

Will this kind of thing affect the action of the baits significantly? I don't feel like complaining to TW unless I have a good reason to. The last thing I need is for them to try and ship out replacements to me when the ones I got had nothing more than cosmetic flaws. No point in that considering how good they've been to me this year.

Two options.

1) Send them back for credit / replacement.

2) Fish them. They may have that little bit of  "oomph" that sets them apart and lights up the fish. Predators always go for the weak / slow / crippled.

Hadn't thought of that. You may be on to something here.

In very soft platic baits a perfect bait is critical or it won 't work properly ( like soft swimbaits ), in other baits misshaped baits are not important, actually there are days I 'm looking for the worst misshaped/ most crooked bait I can find looking for that "not your everyday action" bait.

Bags of brush hogs always seem to have a couple bent baits, I've never had a problem catching fish on them though.

I wouldn't accept one "deformed". For a small premium,

all RageTail Baits are 100% perfect due to very special

packaging. I expect nothing less from Big O.

due to premium packaging. I expect nothing less.

Actually, one of the baits I received slightly deformed was the 7" Rage Tail thumper worm. 

It appears the thumper worms are not housed in a clamshell and are instead arranged loose on a flexible plastic sheet.

Honestly though, I doubt any of this is due to the fault of the manufacturer. I had a lot of stuff in the package so my guess is that rough handling probably caused all the compression and deformities.

There maybe hope though.  Awhile ago, I PMed Big-O about some Thumper worms that were deformed from TW.  He said you can fix them by boiling some water and sticking the deformed part in the water for a few seconds and it should fix it.  It may work for the Zoom baits too.

old packaging. i have a couple bags without the clam but those baits are fine.

also , with all the zoom plastics ive bought , ive only had a handful that were deformed. they were all still fishable though.

Last year I had bought 2 packs of Zoom lizards in the seedless watermelon color. One pack, the back side of the lizard had a 1 inch dent in it, the other pack did not. I was out one day and started hammering bass on the flawed lizards. Well I used all the flawed ones and rigged a non flawed in the same color. Didnt get a bite. I rigged a used flawed one on and started getting bit. It had to have been that little flaw that made it look or act injured, but i couldnt get a bite on the non flawed.

i was somewhat successfull in straightening out some plastic swimbait tails by dipping the tail in boiling water for about 15 secs and letting them hang straight down for a while, gravity keeping it straight. the tails straightened out significantly but seemed to be a little softer than they were pre-boil...

I've had some luck straightening out misshapen plastics by setting them on the hot, dark green fiberglass of my boat for an hour or two whn it's baking in the sun. That only works with thin stuff like bent fluke tails, craw claws, and shaky worms.

With bigger plastics, by putting them into a gallon ziplock bag and dropping it in simmering water on the stove, in water that is as hot as I can get without melting the bag.

   I'd return them, but bent baits do work... I was using some 4" finnesse worms and wound up with one tht reacted somehow and was in a U-shape. My partner ended up cleaning up on me one day at a little pond and I couldn't match him at all. Ended up he was using that worm on a T-Rig..... Boy did I feel stupid :
