Spinnerbaits

What are the best spinnerbaits on the market?  Where, (like most), I can't go high end on rods and reels, having top of the line fishing tackle might be the answer to catching more fish.  I have defaulted to this thought anyway.  I have found the KVD line of spinnerbaits to be good quality but not sure if there are any better? Thanks for the input!

I wouldn't suggest that higher end tackle would make you catch more fish, it might make you feel more confident, but overall it will be your skill and technique as a fisherman that makes you catch more fish. That being said, I do like nice stuff, not just because of the confidence, but because of the quality, lol. All of my spinnerbaits are either War Eagles, KVD's, or handmades; I was looking at the Talon and Revenge baits too though.

My personal favorite spinnerbait is the River2Sea bling spinnerbait. It flat out catches fish for me, even contributed two of my 5 fish limit to win a tournament. Then 2 of them came on a r2s biggie poppa and the last one was on a TNT baits wadda jig. Just have confidence in what you throw and you will get bites

Booyah makes a decent spinnerbait, although their swivels are of poor quality. War eagles are great quality especially for the price, i like the ones from pepper custom baits also.

I  use War Eagle, Stanley, KVD and Terminator Titanium spinnerbaits. This fall i bought a Booyah to try because it was on sale and I liked the skirt with a tail. Never again will I make this mistake. On my first fish I noticed the top blade was missing and the swivel was broke in half so I replaced both. Next fish had the wire so bent that I couldnt tell if it was the spinnerbait I had been using or not.

When it comes to spinnerbaits there aren't many bad ones out there. For example I bought some of the super cheap walmart ones when they were on sale. I got them for $0.75 a piece and swapped some blades, so overall cost was about $1.10 per bait. I've absolutely torn them up with those. That being said though, I REALLY love my Terminators. They are a premium price, but they are a premium bait with the extra features that, to me, make them worth it. Their blade is designed to create more flash than others on the market. Their quick skirt system makes changing colors easy (you can use them on other spinnerbaits too). Instead of having to buy multiple spinnerbaits that are locked in as far as color goes, you can buy a few baits and some extra skirts and change in a matter of seconds. Another feature that I really like about Terminators, is the availability of the titanium wire on their T-1 models. No matter what a fish does to wreak havoc with your bait, you will spend 0 time tuning your bait. The wire always snaps back and your bait will run true. You can't beat that, especially in tournament situations where every second matters.

For general purpose fishing, the Stanley Weedless Wedge are great.  For rocks, and slow rolling at the bottom, I like the Strike King Premier baits you can find at Dick's Sporting Goods.  The bonus with them is they are inexpensive.  My new all time favorite for weeds is actually from Siebert Outdoors.  With it's wire tied skirt, and bullet head, it's durable and fishes very easily.

I'm going to second everything above. I have used a spinnerbait as my go-to for probably the last 15 years. I have yet to find one I prefer over a terminator T1 titanium. Kills me that they stopped making 1/4 oz.

On the high end Advantage bait co http://www.advantagebait.com/spinnerbait_details.html Makes a spinnerbait that allows you to change the blades and skirts (can change skirts on any other bait but blades are not as easy) In theory you could buy 2 baits and a few blades and have an endless amount of  different spinnerbaits in two lures.  They are priced a little high but you can find them for cheaper. Ive caught plenty of fish on them this past fall. Besides that I would go with war eagle, strike king , booyah and every some terminator ones.

I like the S.O.B. Mini Me, the PJ special color works real well for me. The cool thing is that you can get it customized with regard to blade size etc.

Check out G&G Bait Company out of Indiana. All hand made, hundreds of skirts to pick from, along with blades, sizes, shapes, you name it. Customize them to your waters and G&G will make them for you and ship quickly. Quality lures at a decent price.

As far as I know they are still making them. They might be a little harder to find, but you can order them straight from Terminator.

Some good suggestions in this thread. I too like the Terminator baits but if I could only have one it'd be the War Eagle Mike McClelland finesse spinnerbait in either mouse or pond scum perch.

Unlike others who posted here I won't use Terminator titanium baits. It's true, the arms won't get bent but they will break. I spent a lot for them and used them on pike who broke the arms off every one I had.

I use Pepper's.  They are made better than most spinners out there despite being some of the cheapest.

i have used a lot of different spinnerbaits and for me the Walmart Strike King promo spinnerbaits catch just as many fish as the 8 dollar ones from anywhere else........EXCEPT, i love the siebert spinnerbaits, they last a whole lot longer and seem to give me an edge over the others (and they are a heck of a deal).

slam a $1 walmart spinnerbait into a log and the bass won't care who made it.

the benefits of less expensive lures is that you don't care about losing them. which means ur more likely to put them into nasty spots. which means you are fishing where bass live  . and you can learn the difference between a bite and a branch.  and how to un-snag them. 

 

it's nice to upgrade to better quality after the learning curve. i could agree somewhat that expensive lures with beveled blades have a slight advantage in open water when using them as a suspending reaction lure (mid water column).  but bass def care little about details when ur bouncing off the bottom and cover.

 

lotta people just keeping buying cheap lures and buy a hook sharpener  .
