5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 So our daughter made her straight A's and now she wants an X Box. Especially a fishing game. (She fishes with mom and I most of the time). What is the newest X Box out there and the newest or best fishing game? Quote
BuffaloBass716 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I have Xbox 360 with one fishing game for it, Rapala pro bass fishing. I think the one that I have was made in 2010 or something... but anyway, the game is ok at best. They don't really have the ability to fish for bass like you would in real life such as picking specific rods/reels, plastic worms, jigs, spinner baits etc. There are multi species tournaments in the game though. Fishing video games are never very good IMO except Bass Masters for the Nintendo haha. Basically get a Xbox 360 (they're cheap now because the new Xbox one is out) and you could try the very few fishing games that are out for it (they are cheap too $20 or less). Also if you have a Gander Mountain you go to, mine has a shelf there in the fishing section with fishing DVDs and Xbox fishing games. Quote
aquaholic Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 xbox one is the newest, and i dont think there are any fishing games available for it yet. I think there is only like 10 or so games out for it Quote
Megastink Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 As an owner and fequet user of an Xbox, go that route. But word to the wise, Dad... When he says "I want an Xbox", MAKE SURE she'd be ok with a 360. He might actually want an xbox one (the new one). Also consider that xbox will STOP making games for 360 in about a year or so. They will, however, make new games for the xbox one. I would suggest that you get we the xbox one and wait until they come out with a fishing game. It's a very cool device; you can watch YouTube and Netflix/hulu with it, watch DVD's, all kinds of cool things. You might enjoy it yourself. 1 Quote
5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 We have a wii and have two fishing games in it which are cool. I will probably get the One and wait for new games. She wants the Toy Story 3 game too. We will just do some game shopping too. :-) Quote
lanzbass Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Don't know ... But I found this one for Grandma ... ... 1 Quote
motodmast Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 keep in mind Xbox one is $499, where you can find a 360 for $150 not sure if price matters but just throwing it out there. i have the new PS4 and love it ton overs the old PS3. no fishing games yet but ill bet there will be in a year or so. not many games out for the new system yet, basically football, basketball, War games like Call of duty and Battlefield. just keep that in mind Quote
motodmast Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 i noticed toy story 3 is only for Xbox 360 Quote
Tony L. Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 The newest systems are the PS4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft. Both are very new and don't have many games out... yet.... They are still selling the previous generation of each of these (the ps3 and the Xbox 360) and these two have quite the game library built up by this point. They are dirt cheap now too. The problem is that they will only be making games for these consoles for a few more months because the new and improved models are out. If you are looking at purchasing either the new PS4 or the Xbox One and having trouble deciding between the two, I would suggest going to cnet.com to compare them. They had a really good article about picking which system is right for you. Ultimately, both are fantastic gaming systems, so it just depends on which ends up being the better fit for your needs. The article is a great resource to help you decide. Quote
Missourifishin Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I have 2 fishing games on Xbox 360 Rapala tournament fishing: I played it for about 15 minutes the first day, and I think it sucks. Definitely would not recommend it. And Bass Pro Shops The Strike: I liked this one a lot and have gotten quite a few hours of fun out of playing it. I would recommend this one if you get a 360. However, I'm going to assume your daughter probably had the brand new Xbox One in mind when she said she wanted an Xbox. Quote
5 Dollar Fishing Game Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 Missourifishin, We may do the 360. Just for the fact that our daughter really wants the Toy Story game and I want the fishing games. As mentioned earlier, I will do some research. But it helps when you all give input that already have the systems or at least know more first hand. :-) Quote
Mike2841 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Personally I would spend the extra cash on the xbox one. The xbox 360 is on the way out, and like others have said they will stop producing games for that system shortly. 500 might be a hard pill to swallow but the system is gonna be around for a long time, I've had my 360 for 6-7 years now and the life span of the xbox one is probably going to be just as long. blongfishing Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I have a wii. I have ha it for awhile but I have a few hunting and fishing games. One of the best games I have for fishing is "Rapalas Fishing Frenzy" you can change lures and try different lakes and stuff. Quote
Hyrule Bass Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 i have a Wii-U and it will play all the old Wii games too, not sure if there are any actual fishing games for the Wii-U out yet. I have a few fishing games for the old Wii though. if you want to sit and press buttons to catch fish thats fine, but if you want to go through motions and stuff like that, get the fishing games for the Wii, the motions make it a little more realistic. i got a KVD fishing game at a pawn shop for 3 bucks. I'm not sure if the Xbox 360 with Kinect allows you to interact in fishing games like the Wii/Wii-U. What amazes me is a lot of people dont yet know the difference between the Wii and Wii-U. The Wii is all about the motion sensor and swinging around the wii-mote and physical movements for the most part. The Wii-U is actually a solid gaming system with the touch screen game pad. It doesnt even come with a wii-mote, yet the wii-motes from the old Wii will work on the Wii-U as will all the old regular Wii games. I hear people all the time in Wal-mart and such places ask if they can just by the game pad for their old Wii, you cannot. sorry, a bit of a rant here in this paragraph... Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 30, 2014 Super User Posted January 30, 2014 I have PS1, PS2, PS3, Wii, XBOX 360. The ONLY bass fishing game worth to own and play is SEGA BASS FISHING DUEL and if I´m right it only exists for PS2, there are another games that I would rate GOOD, the name is BASS ATTACK and SEGA BASS FISHING but it´s also only availble for PS2 physically, the second one is available for download but it´s for PS3; all the other fishing games I´ve played suck. Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 30, 2014 Super User Posted January 30, 2014 Now, which console is best ? well as I said I own all the last ones. It depends on what you like, XBOX has exclusive games and so PS, my son is fanatic about Gears of War, I love Halo, my son loves God of War, I am fan of Killzone and Resistance so which one ? -----> both, one thing is for shure, when it comes to pennies put your money on PS, you can play on-line for free, on XBOX you have to pay a 50 dollar a year membership to play on-line. Quote
Mike2841 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I think you have to pay to play the ps4 online now too 1 Quote
bartdude186 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I have owned about every game system that has come out since the super nintendo,(haven't bought an xbox one or ps4 yet though) and have played every fishing game i have found and i will be honest, to a fisherman all of the games are horrible, i do not believe a fisherman or woman has helped design any of them and all of the rapala games are just one big advertisement only letting you use their lures. so for your daughter i say buy an xbox one and let her play the games she wants and maybe( we can only hope) a decent fishing game will come out in the future. if you buy a 360 you are stuck with all of the horrible old fishing games with no hope of new ones. 1 Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted January 31, 2014 Super User Posted January 31, 2014 I remember when the 360 came out and got one. It was cool, but nothing compares to my old trusty ColecoVision! Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted January 31, 2014 Super User Posted January 31, 2014 xbox 360 cheaper and you willbe able to play all the games. which are still great. no way id pay 500 to play a video game. ill spend 150 and i cant still enjoy it until the xbox 1 prces come down Quote
MarksHooked Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I have tried a lot of Fishing video games, and I think what's missing from a lot of them, is what most real anglers want: a fishing SIMULATOR, and not an arcade fishing game like we see out there. I'd love to play a fishing game where I don't get to see underwater presentations and fish following my line while a timer counts down. I would be happy to sit for 15-20 minutes without a bite, worrying if I need to change the lure, or the colour, or the size, and reach into my tackle box. The only thing close to this for me, was Bass Pro Shops The Strike; Tournament Edition for Nintendo Wii. I had to borrow my brother in laws Wii when I picked up this game, but when you set the camera to above the water, it's does a good enough job of keeping cabin fever at bay for a couple of hours at a time. It allows you purchase BPS lures and rods and line, and you can earn money from tournaments to upgrade your gear. I believe it's also available for PC, but I do like the feel of 'setting a hook' and 'reeling in' with the Wii Quote
CDMeyer Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 I would get Rapala Pro Bass Fishing it is fun but is multi species not bass which is a down side. On the other hand KVD Big Bass Fishing is a bass tournament game that has money involved, so it adds a twist which is fun but the tournament graphics are not as cool..... Quote
