Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted January 30, 2014 Super User Posted January 30, 2014 http://m.myfoxal.com/#!/newsDetail/24583383 Yet the other two cities are paying the cost of towing the vehicles in their cities. Plus the Governor is about to be getting involved in it. Their are hundreds of angry people over this. 300 dollars to tow a car! Word on the street is Mr. Mayor is related to someone who owns those wrecker companies. How interesting. Quote

Its not tough Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 30, 2014 Super User Posted January 30, 2014 Maybe i am confused but how do people get stuck on the interstate? how much snow did they get? Is it just because they aren't used to the snow? growing up around snow i have a tough time understanding it i guess.... and 300 to tow i those conditions seems reasonable to me.....every time i got towed parking in the wrong spot downtown i was charged around that amount to get my car back and that wasn't even in bad conditions. Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted January 30, 2014 Super User Posted January 30, 2014 Traffic piled up due to ice and wrecks. We don't get ice like that down here. No armies of salt and sand trucks around. The entire Birmingham metro area, UAB, and all the schools shutdown at the same time yesterday. Basically causing rush hour at 1030 am. Add ice and snow to that, and boom. Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted January 30, 2014 Super User Posted January 30, 2014 Also. 85 percent of the ice is gone today. The tow trucks didn't start towing until the ice had pretty much melted this afternoon. When the police are ordering you to abandon your car or they will arrest you. You don't expect to get a 300 dollar tow charge cause some wahoo is in cahoots with the local towing service Quote

Smallmouth Hunter Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Not to start up some daiwa vs shimano type of thing, but chick-fil-a > mcdonalds. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 30, 2014 Super User Posted January 30, 2014 There is something that draws people to chick fila....i mean they make a good chicken sandwich no doubt but i always see a line of about 15-20 cars in their drive through when i drive by. I am not waiting that long for any sandwich unless it is a cheesesteak. And McDonalds is horrible...... Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted January 30, 2014 Super User Posted January 30, 2014 McDonald's is terrible. How dare you disgrace chik-fila like that. 1 Quote

There has been a lot of stuff like that happening down here today and yesterday evening. People all over the cities were opening there homes up to total strangers that were stranded and walking the roads. There was an army of ATVs, 4x4 vehicles, and RAZR ATVs patrolling the roads and helping everyone they could. There was a man from my city that was out helping motorist all through the night. He is diabetic and put everyone else before himself last night. The sad part. He went missing this morning. They found him still alive in a ditch near where he had been helping people out. He is in critical care at the hospital. Judging from his injuries they think a car may had skidded into him and thrown him into the ditch out of sight from the driver. All of this has really shown me how great and caring Alabamians are when we need to be. Quote
