Ag Revo Sx G3 6:4:1 Vs Lew's Ts1Smg Tournament Mg 5:4:1

This is my very first baitcaster that I own, it is the AG Revo SX and I bought it because of the reviews and because it matches the red on my AG Conolon rod but I am wondering if I made the right choice. The reel is very smooth and great looking but a little faster retrieve than what I am used to. I primarily use Topwater frogs, spinners, cranks and bass jigs. I can cast the Revo very well and very rarely get a backlash once set right but I am wondering if I can cast the Lew's further and better all around. These are the only 2 reel's I am considering but the Lew's TS1H could possibly end up in the lineup should I decide to switch out my Revo SX. Walmart has the Lew's TS1SMG for $114 and I get a 10% discount for working there. Any input would be great

They are basically the same reel: both use the same 5 magnet linear braking system, have graphite/carbon sideplates, aluminum handle, aluminum main gear, bearing supported pinion gear, etc. The Mg has a deeper spool and obviously a slower ratio. You can get one at academy for around $70.

The 5:1 gear ratio is usually for cranks and spinnerbaits. I would stick to the 6.4:1 revo and get used to the ratio.

I think you made a great choice, 6:4.1 is a all around ratio for any type of fishing. Most people use the 5:4.1 gear ratios for cranking or slow rolling Spinnerbaits, like aprw1 said. Either reel is a great choice, but I would stick with the all around 6:4.1 gear ratio.

I believe your thinking of the regular mg that's got a composite frame, not the tournament mg.

I've been thinking of getting tournament mg for my flipping rod. I'll end up with either that of the bb1, which is more of a heavy crankbait reel, but the bb1 is pretty light and I think it'd make a good flipping reel too.
