Anyone Rig Tubes Like This

I have been doing this for a while and works great. Anyone else stuff the tube with a worn or craw?

I usually rig my smaller tubes like that, more often than not I'll just use a basic bell sinker and go through the hoop on the top of the sinker

 

it works great at keeping it completely weedless and usually lasts for a few fish

If i am trying to reduce the overall profile of the bait i do rig it similar to this, but most often just a normal t-rig set up for me.

Ive never stuffed a tube. The small craw looks interesting,as i have a bunch of them.Im gonna give it a shot! Also, what kinda weight is that? Never seen one like it...

Yes I do. That is a gitzit glider. I fished in Midland Canada back in maybe 2003 ? And a guy up there made them. They work pretty well. Sort of has the fall of a stupid tube but is lighter. I tried to buy some off him but we couldn't get them to ship them across the boarder. If I ever get back up there I'm going to buy a 100 of them. They are great for skipping. If your fishing them, where did you buy them ? I only have a few left. I do make one that is a home made but doesn't work as well because of the way the hook slot is made.

Uncle Walt's Baits used to have and sell the Gitzit glider before he passed away a number of years. He was out of Spokane, Wa. I used to help him with shows and such. Great guy....and I still have a bunch of those gliders....they work well.

Yep.  But I do two things different.

 

First, I use a tear drop weight that I push to the front of the tube and poke the eye out to tie the line.

 

Second, I pop the hook point back under the tube's skin so it will be weedless.

 

These two ways of rigging a tube are from Ike so I can't take credit for them.

 

But they work great.

i cut a small piece of foam and stuff that in a tube it is soaked in an attractant ,seems to work well.

Anytime I've used an internal weight, my hookup ratio declined.  Maybe it's the hook I used, but I have believe it is the weight.

I have never seen this. So stuff a tube with another plastic? Might have to try this. For a bigger profile and slower fall?

I had to come back to your picture after reading the comments to realize you stuffed the tubes! I scanned right over that aspect of the picture. LOL. Great idea, never done that myself, might have to give it a try one of these days.

Not long after Bobby Garland introduced bass size tubes, they were crappie size first, a rig called "cap and gown" became popular. The cap and gown is putting a worm inside the hollow tube and dates back to the mid 70's.

I don't understand how you get that weight in the tube and on the hook...

  You put the weight in first. Hole side first. Then stick the point of the hook through the nose of the tube and then through the hole of the weight and back out the tube again. Then Texas rig it as show in the picture.

I do something very similar except with an open hook jighead. Do-it has a mold called the tube and tail. It's made to specifically rig a worm or whatever on the shank of the hook before stuffing the jighead in the tube. I use tubes ALOT! It's my primary bait. I t-rig them, open hook jighead, and my favorite in certain conditions is to rig them stupid tube style on an EWG hooked jighead. I've often thought of rigging them with internal weights and weedless but have never done it. I may just have to try it this year
