Bavass Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I am looking for people in the Waynesboro area to do some fishing with. I really don't know that many people in the area, I spend most of my time in Lynchburg on the weekends with family. But, usually one weekend I stay in Waynesboro and just chill out. I don't have a boat. I am a beginner to be honest. I use to do a lot of Fly Fishing but most of my friends quit years ago and so I did to. Never really did a lot of bass fishing but a little. I have been saying for years I was going to start fishing again and this year my girls parents put a camper at Smith Mt Lake and bought a Pontoon boat. So with that I decided this year dang gummit I am going to take advantage and start fishing again. So I brought out the old tackle, bought a few new rods and here we go. So if you want someone to tag a long send me a PM. Quote
NHBA Charlie Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Louisa Va. Here. I was looking for a club that would take a non boater also, so I could get the experience. I checked from Richmond to northern va, to shanandoah valley. Everybody I talked to didn't have anything available. But that was a month ago, things may have changed. If anybody has a seat on a boat, and would offer it, I would help with gas, and net your fish. Probably won't have to net anything I catch! Hahahaha. I don't mind driving where ever. Just cant on Sundays untill after 12:30. Let's fish, cold weather go away! Check out New Horizon Bass Anglers. www.nhbayouthfoundation.org Always looking for avid anglers. Experience, boat, etc. not necessary. Fun and Education oriented club. Quote
Linewinder Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 I am looking for people in the Waynesboro area to do some fishing with. Hi. I was just down at Lake Sherando a few weeks ago. What's the fishing like there? Been? Thanks. Quote
Linewinder Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Manassas area. My boat is too small except for my kids (maybe just one at a time -- nuts). Anyway, get into the streams. Rapidan, Hazel, Rappahannock, etc. that way. Use a canoe. Canoe = partner. Kayak = self. Quote

Super User Choporoz Posted May 5, 2014 Super User Posted May 5, 2014 Welcome, Chris. What part of the state are you in? Quote
rennernc Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I am in the Richmond area (technically Glen Allen) Quote
Chris9999 Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Stafford or Norfolk depending on the part of the year. Mainly fish the Rapp and Motts in Spotsy. For Norfolk its all over the place, have not nailed down a good place to go yet. Quote
bigbass101 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 i live in glen allen and do alot of kayak fishing all over virginia Quote
PersicoTrotaVA Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Va Beach checking in. Moved back here after spending 7 years out west. Glad to be back to fishing in VA. Mostly fish the lakes by my house(Smith, WhiteHurst, Little Creek Res). Good to see a healthy population of fisherman still kicking about in VA. Quote
BMBass Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Im in Yorktown for the week, google maps show a lot of small bodies of water. Ive tried two walking distance from the house…not sure if they hold bass or not. I see signs of them being fished due to the litter in the grass and crap hung up in the trees. Im fishing from the shore for now until I get my kayak down here. So with that being said, anyone with any info on some places I can fish from shore? Oh I rented a boat at hard mill, beside catch all types of grass in the trolling motor. I was skunked, I saw a guy catch a 2 1/2-3 pounder from the dock. Im tempted to just go back and do that lol. Anything helps! Thanks Quote
WdyCrankbait Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 BM, Try using senkos and sexy shad type cranks. I will PM later today, I used to live in Newport News so, I am familar with the waters you are talking about. Quote
PersicoTrotaVA Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Throw a Jig into trees and docks, heavy stuff. Big texas rigged worms, carolina rigs, craws, anything thats slower in presentation on rocks and drop offs. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted June 16, 2014 Super User Posted June 16, 2014 Been a few years, but I used to rent at Lee Hall (little luck) and Wallers (lotsa luck.) By any chance do you have access to the military bases? That really opens up some options in the area. Quote
BMBass Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Choproz My friend is CG. Someone told him it was a pond behind some chapel on one of the bases around there. Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted June 16, 2014 Super User Posted June 16, 2014 I am not certain what access CG has to the Army and Navy bases, but Ft Eustis and Cheatham both have boats for rent on bass ponds. Cheatham also has a pier on the York river -- its closed if they've got operations ongoing, but open most of the time. I always see folks fishing along the Colonial parkway pull-outs. No idea what, if anything, they're catching, but I'd drop in and talk with them. Seems to me there's a community fishing pier down by Yorktown Beach, but I've never been on it. There is no shortage of fishing in your area, that's for sure. Quote
Chris9999 Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Ill be in Williamsburg this summer for about a week, are there any places close by to try out? Quote
