ButchA Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 I have a genuine, classic, S&W Mod 36, J frame, .38 special snubnose, that I carry in a Desantis IWB holster almost every time I leave my house. "It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it". 9 Quote
Functional Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 And the pieces are in. Gotta get the slide milled and taller blackout sights. Went for a little color this time. Still have the full black shield plus with the holosun I'm going run hard side by side and see who wins. Just looking at it trough the house off the gun I have a strong hunch it will be the RMRcc. Handled a glock 43x while I was there. Still kind of want one but can't explain why... the shield trigger is just leaps and bounds better. 5 Quote
Super User Bird Posted April 25, 2024 Super User Posted April 25, 2024 I live in a rural area so guns and hunting are a popular topic around here. Yes, carry daily and all vehicles are armed as well. Oh and AR leaning against the bedroom wall 😁 6 Quote
wvhunt Posted April 25, 2024 Posted April 25, 2024 I normally carry a S&W 360J 38 special in my pocket. I put a bobbed hammer on it to make sure it doesn't hang on my pocket holster or pants material. 4 Quote
BigBassnMan Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 Sig P320 XCarry with optic and light. I never leave home without it. 5 Quote
TackleBoxHero Posted May 7, 2024 Posted May 7, 2024 Glock G30 with grip extension. Can't feel it when carrying, then again I have some extra padding around the waist 😆 1 Quote

Feels amazing and the trigger is awesome. Favorite pistol by far. Enjoy and sweet color combo. Quote

I had owned and tried a few M&P 1.0 shields and full size pistols from them but never felt like I got along well with the M&Ps. Whatever they did with the shield plus and M&P 2.0 made a huge difference. I'll be picking up a 2.0 compact shortly to try some competitions. I really like how aggressive the grip texture is too, no other pistol gave me that texture and I feel its really important for controlling smaller guns like the shield. You can always get your grip stippled but thats another expense the shield already has covered. Quote
thunderblack Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Agree! sweet little guns for sure. The just feel really comfortable in hand. Quote
born2climb Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Sig P365 for the most part. Sometimes a S&W Shield Plus. Or a Glock 43X. Or a G19. depends on mood ands where I'm going and how I'm dressed. Sometimes I swap the 12-round mag out for a flush-fit 10-rounder in the 365 and pocket carry it. I have hybrid holsters for all the guns I carry and wear it at 3:30-4:00. 1 Quote
nso123 Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 It depends on the season. In the winter I am likely to be carrying a Wilson Combat 1911, but in the summer it is usually a Hellcat. 1 Quote
ButchA Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 Same.... It depends on what, when, and the seasons. Fall/Winter -- I carry my one-of-a-kind, RIA 1911 .45 ACP w/ custom made USCG Logo grips. Spring/Summer -- I carry a really cool, very "old school", S&W 36 snubby .38 special in my pocket. Quote
Backroad Angler Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 I carry daily due to my job, a Glock 17 gen 5. Solid firearm 1 Quote
CDMTJager Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 I carry a S&W Shield in 9mm since the year they came out in 2012 in a Desantis pocket holster. I carry it everywhere everyday. I chose the S&W Shield because it is absolutely easy to carry and shoots way better than a gun with a 3" barrel ever should. I love the Shield and shoot the heck out of it. In my pocket in its holster IF it prints and looks like its a phone or anything but a gun. With a 8 round mag more than enough room for all 4 of my fingers. I always carry because so do the bad guys and I have had more than enough past experiences that I will never not carry and do not go places that do not allow CC. 4 Quote

No, No and no I do not fly and drive everywhere I do not have a passport but yes I do go to places I can not carry a gun like jury duty or the police Dept, but that is ONCE every 15-20 years I serve jury duty. And truth is unless I will encounter a metal detector I carry a gun regardless. And when I did do jury duty or go to a place I can't bring in my gun, my gun was out in my truck in a locked mimi gun vault. Same every day I go to work. What I meant by I will never not carry is I will NEVER not carry where I can. And I will go to states or to places I can not carry ONLY if absolutely necessary and even then unless I will encounter a metal detector I will carry. I own other concealed carry specific handguns that are literally the size of a credit card I carry in certain circumstances that are literally undetectable. I have had more than enough instances in years past when I was single and not a father where I was unarmed and it was no small miracle and pure luck I escaped uninjured. After the last such incident I had my sons with I swore before the almighty I will never ever again rely on luck or Devine intervention to save my butt or the lives of my loved ones. When I hunt or hike I carry one of multiple different HGs from my SA 5" XD45 W/14 rounds of 230grn Speer GD's or my 6" 629, or my 4.9" 9mm P320. Camping or road trip I carry a highly modified 12ga 870, a Keltec SUB2000 G2 as well several of the above HG's including my Shield. Guns are just like PFD's in you will likely never need either but if you ever do your life will depend on having one. 1 Quote

Ya, kind of. I look at PFDs like a motorcycle helmet. The one time you might need it could save your life, but generally optional. People don't like being told what to do here. They value personal freedom, even if the data shows a PFD might save their life. "Watch your own bobber" is the term often used. I drove through South Dakota last week and saw hundreds upon hundreds of motorycles heading to Sturgis for the annual rally. Less than half were wearing a helmet. smh I work in a federal building and often have to fly so a weapon would be a bigger pain in the rear than worth carrying on a daily basis. I used to carry for my job but in a hazardous line of duty but I got out of that about 15 years ago. I don't carry a handgun when I'm hunting. I'm already carrying a 12 gauge or a high powered rifle anyways. BTW I like the S&W Shield. That's what I used to have. Quote
Bazoo Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 I don't like going places I can't carry. I've carried so long that I feel naked without my firearm. The same goes for my knife. I don't fly, I don't have a passport. I don't care for concerts or sporting events, so no conflict there. The reason I don't do those things is because I have no need or desire. I'm thankful that I don't have a need to fly. I served on jury duty once. Of course I couldn't carry there. About the only place that I have to go occasionaly that I can't carry is police station/government buildings. In the state of Kentucky, you can't carry in bars, daycares, schools, as well as the other restricted federal places such as federal buildings. But, a privately owned place such as a store, hospital, or church that has a no firearms sign, you can ignore the sign. The law says (paraphrase) that if a person carries in a private establishment that has a no firearms sign they are not guilty of a crime. If found out, you can be asked to leave or to remove your firearm to your vehicle. I was a concealed carry deadly weapons instructor for the state of Kentucky, and as a result, licensed to give all manner of firearms instruction. I let my certification expire about 10 years ago. 2 Quote
FishTax Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 I just held a shield plus and am leaning toward buying it. Haven't totally decided yet. Does anyone carry with a red dot? Online people make it look like it doesn't impact how you carry it but logic says it would have to. I've never shot a handgun with red dot but I'm interested. Hopefully a friend will get one first so I can try it before I decide Quote

My smaller G43 and larger G19 all carry the same as my G43x with the obvious size frame differences. I use the same brand/model holster for all three. Only the G19 requires a little baggier clothing to not print. Quote

That being said, do you really need a red dot for close quarter combat? If you can't hit a target at 5 yards... 1 Quote

Many reasons. Probably the most important being quick sight acquisition in a high stress situation. This allows you to maintain threat focus and acquire targets quickly and accurately by improving sight picture and removing sight alignment from the scenario. They also make it more intuitive for the human eye and brain to focus on the point of aim. Plus every round fired has a lawyer attached to it. I'll take the advantage of knowing my poa/poi more precisely than with traditional irons in a high stress situation. 3 Quote
