Super User Goose52 Posted January 27, 2014 Super User Posted January 27, 2014 Thanks for the link. Of those...my interest is in the Conquest... Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted January 27, 2014 Super User Posted January 27, 2014 The Chronarch CI4+ isn't new, just a rerelease of the US Chronarch CI4+ overseas. Quote
Mike2841 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 If they make the new curado or scorpion in a 51/1001 size I'll probably pick one up. That conquest looks nice too, probably out of my budget for a while though. Quote

The new conquest will have yumeya parts apparently, and since it has the new compact design, the 100 size will probably be close to the old conquest 50 design. Add a yumeya aftermarket shallow spool, and you have a conquest 100s that is the size of the old 50s. Quote
bootytrain Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Makes you wonder if the new conquest is coming here this year.. Quote

Hoping they'll be producing aftermarket parts for those reels in the future. Quote

Add a yumeya aftermarket shallow spool, and you have a conquest 100s that is the size of the old 50s. Unfortunately - the Conquest is taking a page from the Calcutta D's book. While the diameter of the palming side of the reel is reduced as compared to the old model (100 size diameter now similar to the 50)... the reel foot is no longer as deeply recessed due to the larger diameter spool. So, the new 100 will still have a higher effective palming height than the old 50. The reel foot position was reported on TT in their review of the Calcutta D and is also illustrated in the photo of the 200-size Conquest at the above linked web page. Until they come out with a "50" size 2014 Conquest (if they ever do) there is just no replacement for the sweet "palming experience" of the current 50-size Calcuttas and Conquests. Let's see what the future holds - maybe they'll come out with a 50. In the meantime, I'll have to try the 100 size "on for size"... 1 Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted January 27, 2014 Super User Posted January 27, 2014 Makes you wonder if the new conquest is coming here this year.. I had the same thought. JDM Antares and Met are now sold here. No high-level Calcutta available here (other than DC models). CTE-GTs discontinued quite a while ago. Seems like there might be some pent-up demand for a high-end round reel here in the USA. Quote

The Calcutta D is nearly $400, the DC is $529, pretty decent progression in price ranges. I can't see the need for another $450, or $500 Calcutta. Quote

Bantam1 said there would be several new releases at the bassmaster, maybe this is one of them? If so I'd expect about a $500 price tag. Quote
Maico1 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Will be staying focused on the Conquest as well.....thanks for the link. Quote

The new Conquest has a much lower capacity than the JDM Calcutta 100. It may have the reel foot more recessed. If the 100 is the same design as the 200...the foot isn't recessed: Quote

Smallmouth Hunter Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 The new releases at the classic show will probably be just the mystery citica/chronarch reel people are talking about on TT that is in the one picture on tackletour's facebook page, and the curado I. It's a great time to be a shimano fan with all these new releases. Quote
