Clark617 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Hello everybody! So I'm from the north east (Massachusetts) and I'm moving to Avondale at the end of the coming month. Besides the big spots that I've read about (Lake Pleasant, Lake Roosevelt etc.) are there any smaller lakes around? Seeing that I don't have a boat, fishing these big lakes might be a challenge. I'm also looking for a friend, someone to acquaint me to this vastly different and new part of the country. Thanks! -Sean Quote
277Volt Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Hi there and welcome to Arizona! We have an urban fishing program here so here's a link to all the lakes we have. http://www.azgfd.gov/h_f/urban_fishingPhxMap.shtml Quote
277Volt Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Forgot to add this link as well. It shows all our natural lakes by region. http://www.azgfd.gov/h_f/where_fish.shtml I haven't been to Lake Pleasant for quite a while but if I recall correctly there is a fair amount of decent bank fishing to be had. Tempe Town Lake has decent bank fishing too. Quote
Chaz Hickcox Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I grew up fishing the bank on Lake Pleasant. If you have a decent truck you'll have access to the majority of the shoreline, but there's a lot of offroading involved. In the summer I used to drive the shoreline looking for cruisers, then throwing an old school swim bait around them when I saw them. The water is usually clear enough for 20+ foot vis. In town hit Tempe Town Lake. There's boats to rent there and the bass fishing is decent. It's basically fishing a boxy strip mine in the middle of town. Quote
Coltonfranz47 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I always had my best luck at butchers trail in Saguaro Lake walked the shore aways and always got something, also I would go around 5 am to saguaro and throw in Red eye shads off of the docks, Largemouth and yellow bass will hit often there. Drop Shot Roboworms in the summer work well in canyon and apache aswell. Quote
