Wait...............wait....................wait for it.  You will be told to pick Lews, Shimano, Daiwa Lexa or some other brand/model.  :teeth:

Sorry.  Can't help you with your choices.  My only Revos are an STX and Premier.  I've got about 16 Daiwas, but none are the Exceler.

I've read great things about both. I had an abu black max for a while, and liked the way it worked especially for such an affordable reel. I've become a big fan of diawa as well recently, and the exceler would be a good choice i'm sure. Put both on the rod you want to use them on. In my experience, Abu reels feel a little more compact when palming, but that's just my personal opinion. Also check the braking systems on each and try to cast both to see what feels better to you. Good luck!

is there gonna be a big learning curve going from the mag brake to a Centrifugal Brake system? As my strikeforce has a mag. brake

The 2 braking systems are different and effect casting differently but you won't have any trouble going from one to the other.  Set your cent brakes with 3 on and 3 off to start and you will be good to go.

Either will be fine. Mag brakes or centrifugal diesnt matter, both are easy to cast. Which ever you choose just practice.

The Exceler is a fine reel, especially for the on sale prices right now. It's far superior to the Orra, in my opinion. MagZ and a free floating spool, some of Daiwa's higher end features.

I agree.  The Exceler isn't nearly as refined as Daiwa's higher end reels but it is a very capable reel.  I had one I used on a "truck rod" for years.  It was used and abused but held up great and caught me a lot of bass.  You can find the older models for $35 nib right now, you will be hard pressed to find a better reel at twice that price.

Well just placed the order for the Daiwa Exceler from cabelas. What would you guys recomend for a braided line? I ran the spider stealth on my spinning reel last year, but didnt care for it.

Lots of guys on here use either PowerPro or Sufix 832.  I've got 10# 832 Ghost on a Light spinning rod, 30# Fireline on a MH spinning rod for jigs and worms.  Of the few baitcast reels carrying braid, I have used my STX with 40# Sufix Performance the most.  Been on the reel 4-4/12 seasons.  I like it, and consider it to be a good value for money spent.
