I've had my eye on that trailer too, it's a good looking bait.

I was thinking of giving it a go on a weedless skirt jig.

I was at a local shop and asked if they had them in a few weeks ago.  Well they didn't, so the owner called up GYCB to get an order.  They stated that they had to pull them off the market due to a legal issue with Zoom.  Zoom is stating that GYCB's Flappin' Hogs are a copyright infringement due to the bumps on the tail, they say it is taken from the bumps on the tails of their super hogs.  Unfortunately GYCB will not be selling them anymore for the time being.  So if you can still get them, buy them up, because you may not see them again for awhile.  GYCB will probably have to change the design to put them back on the market.  From the limited supply I have seen, they were killer for pitching.

On another thread, I commented on Brad_Coovert's avatar, which pictures the Flappin Hog.

Brad responded by telling me that the lure has been discontinued.

Though I found them on e-Bay, I'm not inclined to chase a fading product.

The Flappin' Hogs are good baits, but they were discontinued for legal reasons.

They will most likley come back on the market, but not for a while.

They sold out very fast.

I have ONE bag of blue/blue flake left.

I may just keep it for a memory.   ;)  Or, I may give it away in a bait drawing.

This is the "official" release given by GYCB

to those of us on their Pro Team.

No mention of any lawsuit at all.

JT Bagwell

We have a production and manufacturing problem with the

Flappin' Hog and it is being corrected. Until it is corrected,

and it could take a considerable amount of time, we have had to

remove the item from our product line. We can't sell something

that we can't make. We regret and apologize for any

inconvenience this has put on our distributors, dealers and

retail customers. We are looking forward to having the Flappin'

Hog back in production and available again as soon as possible.

Thanks for the info.

It looks great to me

Thanks for the info JT, but to be honest with you the phrase "we have a production and manufacturing problem" does not rule out lawsuit.  As a matter of fact, a lawsuit is a HUGE problem that will definitly interfere with production.  Especially if the judge rules that it is a patent infringement.  Of course GY will never let it come to that.

If, and I say IF because a rumour is a rumour untill confirmed.  But if it is in fact true.  The Yamamoto team will deal with it the same way they did when Gene Larew sued regarding putting salt in plastic (senko).  Namely out of court settlement.

Fish Tank, you asked an innocent little question and look at this can-of-worms ;D

Pursuant to what JT Bagwell contributed, it's not a good idea to chase a problematic product (be patient).

Roger makes an excellent point.

The one thing we do know is that there is a problem.

Personally I see little difference between them and the other sweet beaver type baits.

A little extra pair of appendages etc. can't make THAT much difference.  But if anyone knows how to make a soft plastic bait it's GYCB, so expect something of quality in the not too distant future.
