I am looking to try a dropshot setup this coming year and really just dont like the look of the regular way of tieing the hook to the line with 2' - 4' of tag line for the weight. I would prefer a way to have 6"-10" line from the main line but dont want to use a swivel or other metal hardware.  I saw a way of doing this online but cant remember where. any thoughts would be appreciated.

Use VMC spinshot hooks. Tie directly to the hook like you would any other hook, and then tie your drop to any length you want. I switched to those hooks a few years ago when they first came out, and don't plan on going back to the "old" way

I started out using a Palomar knot and it worked OK.

More recently I've been switching between using a Uni-knot and the afore mentioned VMC spinshot hooks.

Both work well.

Can't really say that I have a favorite.

I think the OP is looking for a way to have a dropper 6 to 10 inches away from the main line.    I know in some states that is illegal.

I am still only looking for one hook. (more than one bait is prohibited in MN)

imagine a mainline to a 3 way swivel then one 6-10" line with the hook and one line 2-4' for the weight.

Now help me find a way to set it up like this without the swivel.

Palomar knot and leave a long tag end.

Then take the tag end and run it back through the eye of the hook. This will turn the hook tip up. Tie weight to bottom of tag end.

He is looking for something like this, but with only one dropper.

That is VERY close. I would like to tie the hook to the mainline. and use one of the "droppers" as a 2'-4' line for the weight.

I think I know what you're trying to describe. I think when casting your lure, since it is 6" away from the main line, is going to get all tangled with the line that has the weight.

Looks like it is called a "dropper loop knot".

Awwww yeah!!!

My iPhone example was bad so I deleted it lol.

it was very close to what im looking for.

So I am going to try this to work a dropshot.

My question is would you put the hook in the loop? the weight in the loop? would you put the hook\weight in the loop before you tied the knot?

which part of the line do you think would be more sensitive?
