Body size can affect how big a fish looks in a picture. Being 6'6" myself I can say I've had plenty of big fish look smaller when I hold them vs anyone else. That being said however, there's no way that fish is 11 lbs! Even if he's a 7 footer it's not that big.

No way that bass is anywhere near 11 lbs. I highly doubt the fish was even weighed. He probably guestimated the weight.

The bass in my avatar is about 3#. I asked my wife if she could make it look like a 10#er.

The final result.

The wife, or the bass....lol. She is a whiz with photoshop. I had her to send this to Walgreens to be put on a coffee mug.

When I went to pick up the mug, the photo was on one side. On the other side she had put, in big capital letters, "BIG BOGUS BASS".

When I asked her why, she says, "you didn't want to lie did you". I said, YEAH!!! Oh well, still a nice mug. I try not to let anyone see the other side.

I've raised a Spock-ian eyebrow at some of the pictures in that section of Bassmaster on occasion and that was one of them.

A few years ago someone from NY submitted a fish that was at best a 6lber, but claimed it to be 12.............which Bassmaster published. We had quite a laugh over it at NYBass, seems how it was big enough to be the new NY state record and all......LMAO

There's always fish like that in the Lunker Club of Bassmaster. If someone wants to lie about the size of their fish (not saying this guy did, I've seen some nice fish look like they'd barely keep and dinks that looked 10lbs in the picture) to get in a magazine, then have at it.

I get the fact he lied about the weight, but heck all fisherman add a little something when they tell a story.

Yeah the mag should have proof readers that fish to cut down on something like this.

My fish was almost 8 lb.  I'm 5'6, 145-155 depending on the week.  My hands measure 7" from where my palm and wrist meet to the tip of my middle finger.  You can clearly see the weight and fat of the fish bunching up and hanging below my right fingers, and an old basser told me that when they start to do that, they're starting to get big.

Like you all, I call BS on the lunker I quoted.

I don't know the weight of this one.  Remember I am 5'6 , 150 lbs average.  from my waistline(where my belted jeans start) to the top of my shoulders measures 23".  This fish here was held almost to my side and almost touching my chest. Notice the tail fin stretching below the band of the shorts, and the lips a little bit above the shoulders.  You can say that the fish is about 25" long.

I guess that fish to weigh around 4 or 5 lbs.

I just looked at it in my issue. 11-13 looks legit. The other not so much at 11-4. Just IMO looks like 5-4.

I agree.  That fish is no bigger than the fish of mine I posted second.

The bigger bass have the bulging eyes. tbone1993 said googly eyes. LOL. Never heard that term.

Googly or bulging eyes has been said to be a sign of age and not size.
