KevO Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Can anyone tell me what size hooks come on the pointer 100 and 78? Are they gamakatsu hooks? I thought they were round bend #6 gama's but they are too small. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 23, 2014 Super User Posted January 23, 2014 They are Daiichi sharpened VMC hooks. http://www.luckycraft.com/luckycrafthome/products/accessories/hooks.htm Quote

KevO Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 I don't see many #5 available, even TW LC replacement hooks weren't available in #5. If I go up to say a #4 gama round bend or down to #6 KVD what kind of differences can I expect? I'd like them to still suspend after changing the hooks. Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Maybe a #4 Gama magic eye shortshank would work. You would need to weight each on a gram scale to be precise. I have these Gama and #4 KVD short shank I could have weighed in grams if you like. I will take a stock hook off a 100sp and a 78sp and weigh that too friday. Quote

I've got some magic eye #6 shortshanks, and some #4 KVD's already. l put 2 kvd triple grips on a pointer 100 and sank like a rock. I suppose going down a size would make it float, then i could put some suspend dots on it if I had to. Quote

Super User Hooligan Posted January 24, 2014 Super User Posted January 24, 2014 But wouldn't a short shank #5 be lighter than the stock #5? The Short shank VMC matches up perfectly with the pointer hook. It's the 9650. It's a 1x hook, and not technically a short shank, but it's a shorter shank than other RB trebles. I believe the 9651 is their true short shank. Regardless, the 9650 in #5 is a perfect match. 1 Quote

So far this hook seems to be the best replacement for the money to keep it suspending correctly for me. Quote
