Fished my first tourney of the year last Saturday. As a co-angler, I had ALL my tackle in my new tackle bag I got for Christmas. Moving from one spot to another, I had forgotten to put my bag back into the storage compartment. Upon arrival at the next spot (other side of the lake), I noticed my bag was gone. Immediately my heart sank upon the realization that my bag, WITH ALL MY TACKLE, was at the bottom of lake Keowee. I guess you can say "I threw everything I had at 'em".

Being pinned to a 3 foot pike (my thumb, a treble hook and her face) in a canoe was not a good time.

Choppy day on the water turned into tearing up a lower unit, prop, ect. I don't like to talk about it. Not one of my finest moments.  :cry4:

Drove 7 hours to fish a regional tournament when I fished the BASS weekend series. Fished for 3 days, caught 4 fish, one keeper. Fishing was so bad though, if I'd had 1 more 2 pound keeper I would have gone to the championship. My boaters over 3 days combined for 1 keeper as well, just terrible fishing.

My worst day was the first time I had ever been a co-angler and I got paired with someone who hasn't fished the lake in over a year. It was a BFL on my home lake, not just a pick up tourney. The fish had been spawning for about a week and he insisted on cranking offshore, all day. I snuck 2 in the boat that day. I finished out like 77th, and he blanked. On of the guys in my practice group won, on the same fish we had been killing all week. It was quite the learning experience.

So far, this story is the saddest.

Hit the Rappahannock on a Sunday when the weather man said it was going to be cloudy day, with temperatures in the 60s.

Headed down river to find the grass and pads due to the outgoing tides, with the plan of riding the tides back up the river as the morning progressed.

Motor ran well, river was calm, but all of a sudden my feet and legs were getting colder and colder. So I look down and there is water coming from under the console. What is going on? Yes, for you guys who work on your boats you know what happened: the water tube to the odometer was not connected and the water was coming into the boat.

So now I was cold but stopped and reconnected the tube which was disconnected and not reconnected by the "Power Pros" at BPS when the replaced the odometer that week. I think I will refer to these guys as "Power Disasters."

Finally got to the pads and noticed a mean looking cloud of heavy clouds appearing over the eastern horizon. So dense that the sun was not poking through. Hummm...could be a problem for a day that was supposed to be partly cloudy and in the 60s. We had at least 20* to go to get into the 60's and I was cold and miserable for the wet shoes, socks and pants legs.

Started to fish, watching the clouds get larger and larger; feeling the wind pick up; and not getting any bites on topwaters, Cavitrons or spinnerbaits on the edges. So where are the fish?

Finally decided to call it quits around 11AM when those clouds covered the sky and the temperatures felt like they were falling. No other boats on the river so I could not ask anyone what they had heard about weather conditions since yesterday's forecast so decided to trailer the boat and go home.

Completed a perfect trailering job on first try with no one around to see me do it. Bummer.

Went home before the winds picked up to 15 MPH with gusts to 30 MPH which would have caused white caps on the river.

Total waste of a good day. That front caught the weather people with their pants down and ruined what would have been a good day to stay home.

The time my buddy andu dropped two cylinders 14miles offshore near tampa not 3 hours after the boat had. Its first 100hr service comes ti mind

Then there was the time i hit a deer with the truck and the boat at the same time

My personal favorite however was fishing a tourny in the pouring rain wihout my raingear...it was terrible. I some how left it home and man it poured. I finished 9th lol

I haven't had too many bad days, but my worst was soon after I picked up bass fishing. I got a new pfleuger rod/reel combo for my birthday and went out the next day only to snap the rod on the first hook set, which happened to be a tree anyway. I felt stupid and my only good rod was broken.

It would either have to be the day a Pike decided my thumb looked tasty and the after math required a trip to the ER..........in which I got PFD ticket from the NYS DEC pulling the boat out of the water to get to. OR the time I stuffed a wave in my boat and all my terminal tackle in a plano 3700 box went over the side with hundreds of dollars worth of stuff (IE tungsten) in it.

My buddy i fish with in the tourneys told me one of his worst stories.  He told me as he was moving from one spot to the next, he put his rods on front deck and THOUGHT he had strapped them down.  As he was moving swiftly down the lake he began to notice his rod tips going into the air.  Next thing he notice was his rods (6-8 of them can't remember) were flying over his head and into the water and they sank to the bottom.  So he just turned around and went home lol.

One time we were cat fishing off of the bank around some rip rap, and I was using one of my bass rigs.  I put it down on the ground and it started going out into the water.  As I was running over to it, I really banged up my knee on a rock.  It was swollen with fluid for two weeks, but I did save my rig from going in the lake.

running WOT down the lake and suddenly the engine dropping 5500rms and alarms beeping.   Gives me the chills just thinking about it again.

Went fishing on a cool fall day with a buddy. It started out OK and then the rain came, a steady, straight down drizzle that never quit. Hey, no prblem, we both had rainsuits! Only mine was a one piece job that had never been out of it's package and was several years old. I guess time & heat are not good friends with taped seams. It leaked. Profusely. I became a human wick. Every stitch of clothing I had on was soaked down to my(no rain booties) socks. By the time we packed it in my lips and most of my face was blue and I was shivering uncontrollably. It was one of the longest drives home ever. Oh, yea, the fishing was lousy to.

My buddy insisted on bringing his sister's bf out fishing with us, which meant that my 10ft jon boat would be too small. So we borrowed a 16ft boat with 5hp that we were assured ran perfectly.

Half an hour from home we realized we forgot the trolling motor, had to turn back to get it.

Deer jumped out in front of the truck, slammed on the brakes, anchor slid and broke the prop on the trolling motor.

Got on the lake, motor wouldn't start, boat leaked ALOT of water.

Finally got the motor to start reached the opposite end of the lake, motor totally died.

Only 2 paddles in boat, rubber full length, and one all of 2ft long.

Start paddling, wind picks up, blowing us farther and farther away from the truck.

Luckily another boater saw, and towed us to shore.

Not a single fish was caught.

Out on a local lake trolling for walleyes with a few buddies on a gorgeous MN summer day one guy was pretty inexperienced the other was an avid angler... About an hour into trolling after catching a mixed bag of bass, walleye, and pike, I thought my friend out of the blue slapped me in the forehead knocking off my hat... So i punched him in the arm... He looks at me like what the heck was that for, this is when we both noticed the third guy with his rod held straight up in the air looking pretty confused. he had just tried to make a cast and his line broke. well apparently he tried to cast his Deep Husky Jerk double treble stick bait, but it caught my hat just above the lip, less than 1/4 inch from my eyes, as he casted forward the force of it ripped my hat off and broke the 20 lb fireline it was attached with... The day went from a great day fishing with friends to a day i was just happy to be able to see at the end of it... needless to say i have not gone fishing with the one guy ever again...
