Monday 1/ 20/14 I went to the Alley this Monday west of the Miami River with another member to the site.  We started catching right away and it never let up for a moment.  We had at least 20 doubles, scores of back to back catches.  They were hitting Flukes, Trick Worms, Senkos, and a wide variety of colors and sizes.  Wacky rigged trick worms were an every cast hit.  We finished a four hour trip with over 150 fish caught.  Becuase of the lower water levels the fish in the flats have found their way to the canals.  The canals are full of bass and bait fish of all varieties.  Right now it is like shooting ducks in a barrel.  Take a kid they will love it!

The Alley catch rate is still 20 to 30 an hour.  Went out this weekend and its still crazy.  Lots of little ones but still fun.  Its only going to get better as the water drops, and they will get bigger.

What a difference a few days can make.  I went back to the Alley MM39 on the north side.  It was producing almost 100 fish a day through the month of January.  Saturday 2/8/14 that rate tumbled to a miserable 10 fish in four hours.  We had heavy rains this week and the water levels went up a little.  Whenever you think you have it figured out, mother nature throws you a curve ball.  That's fishing for you!  Can't wait to go again.

Sunday 2/16/14, 8:00 - 1:00, water temp 64.2*, bluebird skies, light winds.

Went out today with a friend from the site. January catch rate was off the chart. Then last week was tough. Today the rate went back up with over 100 caught. We had a couple of three pounders in the mix. The bigger fish were caught deep on wacky rigs. Fun right now in South Florida.

I was out on the Alley yesterday. Off the charts for sure. Three customers with an astounding 160+ bass caught on the Husky Jerk.

Capt'n Shane do you have a favorite color and size on that Husky Jerk?

The Rapala HJ 10 in Tenn Shad is my favorite.

Captain Shane is on em' good.  I can testify with my own personal eyewitness account.

George is right, now is a great time to bring the kids out there.  First cast Sunday, my son caught two on his little jerkbait.   Caught a couple hundred with the kids both days.   I got a couple 5lbers, flipping around some of the bedding areas.

I'll bet the kids had a ball out there. A day like that and they will be hooked for life. As a parent it doesn't get any better then watching the smiles on their face. So much action out there right now, if that water drops another foot it will really get crazy.

Sunday 2/23/14, Alligator Alley MM39, partly cloudy, water levels low.

Went out today with another member of the site. Things started slow and then picked up considerable. Lots of small fish but not the numbers from last week. Ended up with about 35 small bass, the biggest about 2 pounds.

I am off tomorrow and thinking of trying out the alley I don't have a boat so will be hitting up the rest stops. This will be my second trip out there, any fan favorites as far as areas to target? Thanks for any tips maybe I'll see some of you guys out there

3/1/14: Went to the Alley today and there was nothing but constant action. Used speed worms until I ran out. They were hitting it every cast. Then went to senkos and trick worms with almost the same results. This seems to be happening all throughout the Alley system. Right now if you want to catch 100 or 200 bass it just depends how much time you want to spend on the water. Not lots of big fish right now, but loads of bass pulling your line. Regardless of where you put in, the results are the same. Fun time in South Florida.

I don't have access to a boat was thinking of fishing all the rest areas. Do you guys think there will be some bass to be had near the rest areas?

That possibility always exists. You are limited to your access, and dealing with other bank anglers. If I am not mistaken, the Holeylands as a lot of bank access. I am not 100% sure but you can PM Geo G. He can tell you with more certainty.

Sunday 3/9/14, Went out today from 7-noon. First 12 casts, 12 bass. It doesn't get much better then that. Total for the day was at least 75, with the biggest over 3 pounds. Another fun morning on the Alley.

MM35 you have several ways to go. 1). You can use the east ramp at the rest area and fish back toward the east toll booth. 2).At the middle ramps you can go north or south on the Miami river, or go west along the Alley. 3}. you also have the west ramp.

You can throw top water, swimbaits and speed worms, but I would not forget senko type baits weightless and fished slow. Good luck.

That's the glades for you.  During low water periods it gets crazy in the canals. :respect-059:

Went out today and fished the Alley on MM 35 going west then went north to MM 38. Fly fished all day and caught about 15 bluegill and 3 bass on fly. Switched to pitching with a Havoc Crawfish when I went to MM 38. Caught about 22 bass including back to back 4 pounders. Was an awesome day even though it was supposed to rain. Going snook fishing tomorrow! Wish me luck! :)
