Bruce424 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Might head up this weekend. Slinging a carolina rig from shore. Maybe a frog... Quote
Dogmatic Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 What areas you guys targeting? I hit three mile, missed a few on topwater early, and was nearly skunked, but managed two sub three pounders cranking the bluff in about 12'-15' of water, decided to not press my luck and called it a day, was starting to warm up a little bit much for my liking. Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 I'm not sure the lingo of the lake yet, so I'm not sure where "the bluff is" haha. But I caught 1 cranking in about 7ft-8 FOW in the big cove across from the 3 mile launch. Cranked just outside of the weed edge. Then hooked into another throwing a frog on the pads across from that cove near the launch. Anyone have any pointers on where to find some smallies? Quote
PhatBass Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Hey Guys, Anyone up for night fishing @ the NOC this Sat? Was thinking of putting in @ 3 mile about 7-7:30pm. Never did a night fishing before & my wife really doesn’t want me to go alone. I just built a new underwater LED light & will be trying it out. 1 Quote

Unfortunately I will be in OBX, but any other time, let me know. There's a "night crew" at the Nock, and I would really like to see what they're up to.? Quote
Dogmatic Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Hardcore, LOL, the "bluffs" are the steep cliffs in any given area. The area you were fishing "the cove" is actually the Tohickon inlet, or bay, anchored by the "high bridge"(563) at the end. The "Tohickon bluffs" or "Old Bethlehem bluffs" are right past the inlet to the "secret pond", or "hidden cove" on the right(if you're facing the bridge). If you need topo maps let me know. As for smallies, it's all about the deep humps, and the dam. Launch from the Tohickon ramp, head towards the dam, but go down the south side (almost straight across from ramp), essentially following Tohickon creek. I usually follow it all they way down to the south side "dam bluffs" then cross to the "north side dam bluffs", then down to the "dam point" then head across to the dam, which is, at least this time of year, where I find some smallies. I know, it's a long haul, but it fishes faster then you would think. 1 Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Thanks for the tips and names Dogmatic. I havent ventured to the dam yet. I'll give that a shot. Quote
Dogmatic Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Np. Deepest part of the Nock, and lots of structure, and forage the smallies like. Quote
Bruce424 Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Frog fishing there was more or less a success. That was the only plan that panned out from the shore. No flipping bite or carolina bite. Frogs pre noon. Calm ish water got me one. BUT!! around 11 o'clock sunday. I missed a HHUUGE ONE! on a frog had rod doubled over and creaking. Had it on for about 5 seconds ten feet from the shore jumped and spit it. Felt sick after that. Other than that couple more on Texas rigs. My dad was killing them on weightless texas rigged z nail worms that they don't make anymore. I'll show a pic later on a nice one he caught. 1 Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 I'm heading out early tomorrow morning. Has anyone had any luck lately? Quote
thebillsman Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Tough day today. Left the slip at 6am and trolled to Three Mile launch and back to the Marina. Had four lines in the water at all times.. top water (WP, poppers, frogs), jigs + chatter baits, and deep diving cranks. Water temp right are 80 and clear skies. Didn't land a single fish. I hooked up with what look like a 12" LMB but it came unbuttoned at the boat. Hot, hot morning. 1 Quote

Dogmatic Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 I wish there were 12 lb LMB in the Nock! ? Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 I think I'm going to head out on Saturday morning. Anyone been out recently? Quote
Dogmatic Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 I stay away from the lake on weekends, but will be heading out Friday night. Let you know how I do. 1 Quote
Dogmatic Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Nada...had a blow up on a mini slammer around 8:30, and then nothing for the next four and half hours. ? Quote
thebillsman Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 I went out yesterday and didn't have any luck. A neighboring boat got a good ~2.5lb fish. On Wednesday my boss caught a fish that was easily 5+ but I don't know if he'd appreciate me throwing his picture on BR. Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Yikes. Hopefully I do a little better in the AM. Ill let you know how it goes. Quote

Threw a buzz bait and frog first thing in the morning, switched over to a spinnerbait once the sun got up a bit. Tried a squarebill over some submerged weeds. The only thing I didnt do is throw a t-rig or jig, which I probably should have done. Oh well, there is always next weekend! 1 Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Finally! I snuck out for a few hours on Sunday morning. It was REALLY windy, but I caught on a frog. These are my first and second frog fish ever, so you can imagine my excitement! 1 Quote
-David- Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Fish Picture Taking 101 = hold your arm out so it looks much bigger LOL Well done sir! I had planned on giving froggy a try this year but with the travel schedule being so insane this season the yacht remains covered. 1 Quote
HardcoreBassin Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 I got out again on Sunday for a bit in the morning. Caught 4 LMB. 4lbs, 4.6lbs, 2.5lbs and a dink. 2 smaller ones came on a squarebill. The 2 bigger ones took frogs. I'm addicted to frogs since my first 2 frog fish last weekend. I put in an order on Academy for a bunch of them, and a few wake baits. 2 Quote

If you're getting into topwater, you need to pick up a whopper plopper. 2 Quote
