If you were to fish the Nock with an electric motor only, what ramp would you put in at during the summer months?  I'm hoping to get out there in the next few weeks, but I am limited to using my trolling motor.

Thanks!

- Dale

I normally put in at 3 Mile or Haycock.

From Haycock with an elec motor you have an easy run to Haycock bay under & past the Rt 563 bridge. From the ramp to the bridge is a no wake zone anyway. (however you wouldn’t know it). In the opposite direction you can easily hit Finks Cove & Foeliners Cove. Last weekend I took one of my nephews to Finks Cove & he hooked a 6” & 12” bass. Another boat in Finks cove actually put one in the box. The whole lake is a little deeper than it should be for this time of year. Haycock bay is usually 2/3 chocked with lilies by now but is mostly open still. Finks & Foeliners coves each had a lot of vegetation just under the surface.

From 3 mile Run you have an easy run to Tohickon Bay. Again by this time of the year it should be chocked with lilies but isn’t. To the left of 3 mile ramp towards Rt 313 the lilies are about 30 yrds out from the shore.

Hope this helps

Really depends on what type of fishing you do. I'm fishing mostly the bluffs, so it's the Marina or Haycock. Things are changing though, so I will be putting in at 3 mile and Haycock more often.

Yesterday. Also lost two smaller ones before they got in the boat.

Fishing on a holiday weekend?! We went for a sunset cruise on the pontoon, it was nice, but didn't fish.

Fish must have lost their calendars because they didn't seem to care :)

We were out at sunset as well and had to dodge the pontoons haha. It's coming to my favorite time on the lake.

Should try sunrise, mid week, practically have the lake to myself, at least to 8'ish or 9.

Well, today will probably have been my last outing at nockamixon this year. I've gone six times in the last two months and have not caught a single fish.

How embarrassing.

Went out early this morning with a keitech crazy flapper on a football jighead and a couple new jerkbaits. Stayed until 6:30pm and didn't get a single bite.

I usually stay in and around Three Mile. Today, at noon, I had a small aluminum boat trailing my course around the cove and he put three decent LMs in the boat one after another. All water I had trolled twice prior to his arrival.

Really don't know what to do there anymore. I've thrown so many different baits with so little reward. With respect to the weather, water temp and season I've tried frogs, spooks, every soft plastic imaginable, lipless cranks, suspending jerkbaits and a multitude of jigs, All my hours on the lake have yielded absolutely zero knowledge. With the exception of my complete ineptitude of the sport.

If I can't turn it around come early spring I'll have to find another watering hole. I just can't take the trip back to the boat ramp feeling so useless anymore.

The only thing he's thrown that I've not tried is the 8XD. I usually try square bills.

The weather has been pretty brutal and the dramatic temperature drop over the last two weeks has really changed the fishing.. but what the hell do I know.

First read your post & from the tone thought we had a jumper on our hands. You sounded pretty depressed.

I feel your pain buddy. Just started fishing again after 35+ years.

Have spent two years on the Noc & Beltzville putting noting but water in my live well.

I’m using decent Shimano gear & probably $500 worth of lures.

Have spent countless hours on you tube, DVO & Bass Resource. I’ve accumulated all this book knowledge but can’t seem to translate it into a strike.

Have thought long & hard on this & the only thing I can think of, it’s got the be the boat I’m using. LOL   :sign13:

I’m now studying SKARFishing videos looking for landmarks for next year.

I live less than a mile from the Pine Run ramp at Beltzville. Just finishing my second year and totally understand your frustration. I would say that I catch 1 Bass for every 15 hours of trying. And like you I have all kinds of book knowledge and way more than $500.00 worth of lures.

I can say this with certainty that Beltzville is stuffed with bass and nice sized ones at that. There are tournaments there quite  a bit and I have seen with my own eyes what that lake can produce in a day. During the spawn they were in the shallows at the top of the lake, thick as fleas.

The curse of Beltzville is that it's hard to 1. find the fish and 2. get them to react. That lake is very highly pressured from recreational boats as it is one of the few unlimited HP lakes in the area. Also, the lake is quite deep with steep banks and cool clear water. Finally the lake is packed with bait fish (alewives).

I have taken less experienced anglers than me fishing and they have boated a few where I have done nothing. Live bait is what did it for them. Another thing is we think the bass should be in the shallows, they are not. In the summer find the outside weed edge on the main body of the lake, fish the entire water column down to 20 feet. There are weeds at 16 feet all over that lake.

My plan for next year is after the spawn use only three kinds of lures, not sure what they will be yet but I want to limit the variables. During the spawn use finess drop shot. Again I'm no expert Beltzville is a frustrating lake. I have myself convinced that just being on the water is much better than cleaning out the garage or stuck in traffic on Rt 22 and this is how I keep myself plugging away at it.

A bad day of fishing is better than a good day on 22.

This guy can help a little.

Definitely offshore in that vid. Which could mean two things, he knows the lake structure really well, or he's dropped his own. By the way, this is no time to be giving up on fishing The Nock, this is when it gets really good. I had a 15 fish day, 11 fish day, and 9 fish day within the last week.

Just pulled the boat but have to agree the fishing has been pretty good. Next year we should all plan a Nox Day!

I'm in! I'm hoping all forecast are wrong, and I can fish well into December or January(like we had a few years back). I like having the lake to myself.

Not yet, Hoping to get out there soon.  Working on a new boat right now :D...I should be fishing in a couple weeks.  My wife and I moved to Perkasie last May and I was only able to get out on the lake 2 times last year, both limited to Haycock.  Can't wait to get out there and start learning the whole lake.

Welcome! What kind of boat? And do let the rest of us know when you figure the lake out since it still confuses so many of us :)

2016 Crestliner 17 Storm.  I just sold my '05 Stratos (used to fish at Penn Warner Club).  I'm hoping I have the boat in hand for my birthday in April.  That would be a hell of a birthday present!

Hey Dale,

I have a 2014 16 Storm.

I’m guessing you got the 20hp Merc option?

Living only one mile from the Noch it basically only made sense to go with the 20hp.

When I am the only one in the boat, I can get upwards of 20-23 mph.

Last year I had two other full figured fishermen on the boat with me.

I could barely get 5 mph. LOL

I thought I had a stroke of genius. I wanted to put a second 20hp Merc on my Storm.

I have often seen bigger boats with twin 250s or even three 250s so why not two 20s.

I would leave one out of the water while at the Noch & use both when at Beltzville.

I asked around at the boat show the other week and got a unwanted education. Basiclly 20hp motors are not set up to be paired like that. Was told I would not see 40 hp. The math does not work like that. Also found out that on those boats with the twin motors the props actually run counter to each other. Never knew that…

Anyway, will keep an eye out for you on the lake.

Happy Bday!

Interesting.  Did you happen to change the prop on your motor?  I'm going to see how it runs before I do anything, but I've been told that I should consider changing the prop.

Most of the time it will be just me and probably 1 of my dogs.  The rest of the time it'll be me and 1 other person.  As long as I can plane out I think I'll be happy.

Where do you put in?  Or does it depend?  I was thinking my "regular" launch will be the 3 Mile launch since that is the closest to my house.
