-David- Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 That looks a bit bigger than a 20hp.... Believe me I wish it was! While yes, it has been know to happen but they are also aware of it and from what I've heard they have checked engine serial numbers of any they suspect was bigger than 20. Quote
-David- Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Ha! Wouldn't be the first person to "rebadge" their motor at The Nock. When it was restricted to 10 hp, people ran "up carbed" motors, when it was 15 hp people replaced stickers or cowlings. We'll see you there David, we usually keep a pontoon on the lake. Last year it was being "refitted" so we didn't get out much. Good deal. Where are you parked? They moved us to E this year. The past years we were in B next to a big pontoon which made coming into the slip interesting every time. Quote
cddan Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 The fishing has been good below three mile run boat launch. It has warmer water and prespawners. Quote
chrisdm4 Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 The fishing has been good below three mile run boat launch. It has warmer water and prespawners. Â I'm going to get the kayak out on Sunday to nock or peace valley just not sure what one yet. Â Good to hear the spawn is now. Â I thought it would be going down soon. Â Crappie run should start this week as well. Â Quote
PhatBass Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 How is the Crappie fishing @ the NOC? I will be talking my 6yr old nephew out this summer for his first fishing experience. Thought we might have a better chance putting something in the box targeting Crappie. Any hints would be appreciated. Best uncle status is on the line! Quote

I have not fished nock for crappie but I have done so at peace valley.  You can do pretty well this time of the year but this summer look for them in around 15, 20 feet of water.  For you nephew I would go after the white perch at PV.  We had a day on the kayak last year where we put like 50 fish in the boat in 30 minutes.  We found the fish chasing the gizzard shad on the surface.  It was a blast! Quote
-David- Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Slow start here…..  Changed my prop to a 8 pitch and added a Stingray Jr. Hydrofoil to try to get more out of the 20 HP.  Hope to be on the water next week.    Quote
PhatBass Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Heading to the Nock in about 2-3 hours. Not expecting to do any fishing today. More of a recon day. I’ll be testing my new Sonarphone & Navionics on my Samsung table. Will try to locate some cribs & other documented structure. Also took the lowrance x4 pro that came with the boat & moved it up to the bow. Mounted the transducer on the trolling motor. Want to also map some areas I noticed last year that seemed to get over grown with lily pads later in the summer. Want to see the actual depths before the vegetation reaches the surface. Maybe do some punching & top water frogs in those areas later in the summer. Will be putting in @ 3 Mile Run & exploring that half of the lake. Quote
PhatBass Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 All in all it was a pretty crappy day! The new sonarphone only worked half the time. However when it did lock bottom it was real close to the lowrance. The water temp on the sonarphone read about 102f !?! Navionics app worked okay. Was able to navigate to some preset waypoints on the lake.     Now for what got my shorts in a bunch…  1st - The motor kept quitting every time I took it out of gear. Then to restart it I basically had to set to idle high, start it then jam it into gear. Of course this made it fun when it came time to get over to the dock.  2nd - There was some smacked*ss that decided he would wait until he was on the ramp to undo his straps & get his gear out of the truck! There should be someone sitting at each ramp just to give out stupidity fines!  3rd - We decided to stop @ the Country Place for dinner. They seat us right next to a couple with what looked like a 3 & 4 yr old. I should have asked to be reseated right away! The 3 yr old proceeded to have a meltdown because her video would not play on mom’s phone. Dad finally gets it working & it’s at full volume with signing from that frozen movie. After 5 mins of that it was time to find the manager.  4th - Time for the check & they don’t take cards. Of course they have an ATM that dings you $1.25 to get your own money!  When we got home I basically had to tell my wife, unless the house is on fire, don’t talk to me for the next couple hours.  Well got that off my chest. Actually feeling a little better. Wonder what's on World Fishing Network? Wonder if KVD has these kinds of days?    Quote

Actually feeling a little better. Wonder what's on World Fishing Network? Wonder if KVD has these kinds of days   Not to change the subject but....  I'm in kinda the same situation as you. I really want to go fishing but first, I have made a bunch of changes/improvements to my boat and in addition to having a full time job, I take classes at my local Community College (Lehigh Carbon CC). This semester 7 credit hours, stats and microbiology. I have a degree from 35 years ago it's just that I want to keep my head engaged.  Anyway, I made a deal with Mrs. Thomas15 to put up a fence around her chicken coops. This was last fall. So right now I have to study for finals and put up a fence and go to work. I have no time or energy left to hook up the SS Minnow and head out into the sunset. Also, I really need to clean up the garage, put the mower deck on the rider and I need to build a new bench for my ammo reloading presses. In another week we are getting a couple of ducks and it's like crap when am I going to get time to do anything?  Two more weeks and the fence will be up and the semester over. I spent the winter dreaming about fishing but it has to wait unless I sneek out one day during the week. I feel your pain brother PhatBass. Quote
-David- Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 LOL the Country Place has never taken cards but there is nowhere else you can get such decent food for less that they charge at McDonald's. I may be even more delayed as I just ordered a Hummingbird Helix that I will need to install. Quote

I may be even more delayed as I just ordered a Hummingbird Helix that I will need to install.  I drive by the CP almost every day. Haven’t stopped in there in maybe 25 yrs. Carried cash back then. Yes 2 appetizers, 2 cheese steaks & a gigantic fries was only $17. Oh but forgot add an extra $1.25 for the ATM fee, grrrrr  If it was a Saturday would have gone to the Wagon Wheel for the best wings in 20 miles.  Give me a heads up when you do expect to get out. Maybe will try to sync up. 1 Quote
-David- Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Will do! And totally agree about the wings at WW. We are within walking distance Quote
Dogmatic Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Head up the road a bit to the Dam Good Cafe, way better food, takes credit, and reasonably priced. Any real water temp readings? Same boat as many of you, need to work on the boat, and collect my smaller crafts, and very little time, and I can practically throw a stone to the lake. Just been hitting up my ponds, and they're all getting tough with the spawn. Going to hit the river up in a few days. Quote
-David- Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Thought Dam Good was only open for breakfast and lunch? Quote
PhatBass Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Have gotten take out from dam Good several times. Real good turkey chili. Â I decided on CP because way back they used to be known for their cheese steaks piled high with meat. Guess they must have been running low on Sun. Roll was only half filed & not much to write home about on the taste. Also they only give you (upon asking) a small glass of water. I downed it in one breath. Asked for another & asked if I could have a tall glass the size the wife got with her lemon aid. Was told rules are only small glasses for water because people waste it. So I keep her running back & forth the whole time refilling my glass. Â I'm not going to trash them on any social media. Just not going back... Quote
-David- Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Their customer service has always been below fast food standards but we normally go with a bunch of guys so we make more trouble for them then they do for us so we consider it even. 1 Quote
Dogmatic Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Thought Dam Good was only open for breakfast and lunch? Open nights, to 8 or 9, at least I think. Quote
-David- Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Anybody else here the story about the 5 ft alligator that is suppose to be in the lake? No joke....heard from two separate people that somebody had one as a pet but let it lose. Quote
-David- Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Finally got the boat in yesterday. No fishing but tested the new prop pitch / fin and Helix 5 SI. Â Â Quote
Dogmatic Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Ooooh! Looks sweet, and the KVD edition Helix! Looks like you're one of the guys I curse when I"m riding your wake in my yak. What's the water temp? 67° Already! Quote
chrisdm4 Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 I hit nock after work with the kayak last week. Â Got one bit but missed him. Â Water was warm for sure! Â in the creeks i fish its up to 64 degrees already. Â Quote

HardcoreBassin Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 If you were to fish the Nock with an electric motor only, what ramp would you put in at during the summer months? I'm hoping to get out there in the next few weeks, but I am limited to using my trolling motor.  Thanks! - Dale Quote
