The more fishing videos I watch on Youtube the more lure companies I keep finding that I never heard of before.  I j discovered another company called Jackall.  I was looking at their soft plastics and they have some that look really nice.  I noticed the price for some of their soft plastics are around $10.00 a bag!

So have any of you heard of Jackall?  Are they a Japanese company/store?

I am interested in their Super Cross Tail Shad.  From the video on their site, that thing looks cool and it's only three inches long too.  But it's around $10.00 a bag from Tackle Warehouse.  Anybody know of these lures and if they are any good?

 Thanks

Jackall is a very popular Japanese brand and they produce top notch lures in quality, detail, innovation, fit, finish and action.  It was co- founded by a legendary lure designer Seiji Kato. Jackall lures including the Squad Minnow helped win the Bass Master Classic last year. They are my favorite brand followed closely by Lucky Craft.  As far as price go, they seem expensive compared to most American stuff but they are pretty affordable when you compare them to the Japanese competition such as Megabass and Evergreen which Ive found to be no better in quality, you are just paying extra for the name.

You can get some of their popular dropshot baits at Dick's and their soft and hard baits at BPS.  Satsuke Craw, Crosstalk Shad, iShad are good softbaits.  The Boil Trigger popper is a great smaller bait.  Shimano is their importer.

For us Japanese tackle enthusiasts is an old name, you never heard of it because Jackall didn´t land on US shores until a few of years ago. It´s well established company with very good reputation, not only they make lures, they also make great rods.

Now, the problem, Jackall´s soft baits are great, like most japanese soft plastic baits, the durability sux so don´t expect a bait to last a lot.

Japanese lures are the creme de la creme, companies like Deps, Megabass, Lucky Craft & Jackall.

Before he founded Jackall Lures, Seiji Kato worked for Lucky Craft where he designed the 'LC Pointer' and 'LC Sammy".

It wasn't until 2007 that Jackall lures made their way into the states (The Jackall TN/70 has become my lipless plug of choice).

Ty Ono of Jackall lures worked with Greg Stump of Roboworm to develop their soft plastics in Japan, good products.

They're definitely a quality bait, but I'd recommend buying a couple bags of the standard crosstail shad for half the price of the supers... you'll be getting plenty of action on those.

Buy the US version of the cross tail shad and I-shad. About $5 a package. Easily a top 3 drop shot bait for me. Fished these bait side by side next to a few other popular baits and the results were more than convincing. I probably keep about 25-30 bags of crosstail and I-shads with me when I am on a good drop shot bite.

Jackall is good stuff for sure!

I especially **** the flick shake and TN lipless crank. The TN70 stands on its nose on the bottom...its dirty!

I used to use the Flickshake worms, until I realized that a Zoom finesse or trick worm on a wacky jighead catches just as many, if not more fish, and you get 3 times as many baits per pack for less money than the Jackall worms. I know a lot of people who use the cross tail shad, I have used it, it works, but it's not any more effective than other drop shot baits that cost less, so I don't use them much.

Pros - Jackall is def top of the line. I love their soft plastics. Jackall has a high attention to detail and very good designs. Their baits have extremely good action. They flat out catch fish. The crosstail shad is one of my fav lures.

Cons- The plastic they use is pretty soft and does tear up more easily than some of the domestic soft plastic that we use so often. If you get more than one fish out of the soft plastics, you are doing well The are also more expensive.

Overall- great baits, on a typical day ill use my less expwnsivw baits but on a hard day or if it was a tourny or freindly competition. I would not hesitate to use em

Go ahead and get a Dagored. I think the US version is a Mikey. It is a great sub surface lure and we tore the up on Guntersville this past fall.

They are 2 different lures, the dagored has the tail prop, mikey does not. Both great lures, I use the mikey jr, the dagored and the 180 jr, among other Jackall hardbaits.
