basshunter81 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Ken from Stratford, CT. Can’t wait to hit the water! If I’m not practicing for a tournament I prefer to hit candlewood. You just can’t beat it. I’m a member of BIO Bass and we are affiliated with the TBF. If anyone is ever interested in fishing a club tournament as a guest just let me know. It is very laid back and fun. Quote
bmac31 Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 Hey Ken I might take you up on that one day. Did anyone else here that classic runner up Paul Mueller is from Southbury? Way to go Paul! Quote
dam0007 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Not familiar with it. Fill us in. www.ctbass.com theres a handful of clubs in the state in CBN. Paul who came in second last night in the classic is from here too. On the website theres a list of people to contact if any of you guys have questions, contact Sylvia. She heads the Nation. Hopefully if some of you guys are interested she can sneak you guys into our club or another for this year. All dues combined are around $130/year plus your $25/year Bassmaster membership. Our club has 6 club tournaments each year. Some clubs may have more. Each club has 1 meeting a month, some clubs mandatory some not. I prefer to attend all of them. CBN state tournaments are optional. I highly recommend everyone here to get involved. More people the better. --------------------- As far as NEBA, they are doing a combined trail this year with CBN. Its a team trail, 6 tournaments. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted February 27, 2014 Super User Posted February 27, 2014 Hello my fellow ct bassers. I hope to be out there too soon I hope. Maybe an early spring? The big chill is on, maybe a northeastern by Monday? Quote

Super User bigbill Posted February 28, 2014 Super User Posted February 28, 2014 I'm not welcome on one of the ct fisherman sites. One tonrnie guy said we only have up to 7# lb bass here. I posted My PB is 10# so far I lost bigger and seen bigger. I guess I insulted his ego. Soon after his buddies were catching between 9 to 11# bass. There here if we fish it right. I fish 24/7 from when the bass are moving till I get burned out. I'm up at 3:30am and fish till 8 or 9am. When the bass move from the shoreline to there haunts and cover at about 9am. By my third month I'm burned out. Unless the misses wants to go to Maine on vacation. The very first time I used senko's that following weekend she wanted to go away. The senko bite was hot that week. Bummer. But it was ok. I mainly fish from shore at the smaller places. I get to hammer one spot or gun and run to another close spot. There's a lot of great fishing in ct still. There's not that many bass fisherman like us here. Quote

03sp500 Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Just signed up, I'm from Southeast Ct. fished all the lakes around here, Patchaug, billings, beach pond, Amos and Such. Looking to branch out to other lakes this year. Tried lillinonah but came up empty and almost got hit by a sea plane. Hope to see you guys on the lake. Cheers Quote

03sp500 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Boat , just a little 14 ft sea nymph. But its comfy Quote
EdsBar Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 How is Patchaug? I read some good things on it on some site. I've never ventured out that way though other than to gamble. Quote

Its pretty good. during the summer its a zoo full of jet ski's , spring is nice only ever caught some LB but im told there are some really nice pikes in there somewhere. Lots of shallow spots so be careful. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted March 12, 2014 Super User Posted March 12, 2014 I'm doing it with no boat fishing the small ponds or man made dams that we're used for water power at one time. This year I'm going to spread out to lake lillionah, lake zoar, the housatonic river near Kent, and some special unfished swamps. There's great northern pike in the upper housatonic. The trick is to fish them at 3:30am when it's very, very quiet. Just beaware of the bears and mountainlions. We do have double digit bass in ct. So let's get to it. Quote

dam0007 Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Yeah that one jack a$$ with the Yellow Sea plane is a $6)?477&$(@$!(>€ he almost hit us once and another time landed right where we were casting. He thinks he owns the lake. Quote

Hope to see you guys on the lake Cheers On lillinonah there's a double dog leg near the dam. I was logging near it and watched two big pike ambushing anything in the path. I tried to hit it from zoar but stupid me it's in lilly above the dam. I hope to fish the pads near the Bridgewater boat ramp.Zoar is full of bass along the winding SOUTHBURY,CT road. A split shot rigged black rubber worm from a boat or from shore will keep you busy. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted March 26, 2014 Super User Posted March 26, 2014 Took a ride to nearby haunts and the ice is still on with no end in sight. One tough winter for sure. I wonder if we had another winter kill. The deer are here looking for food every few days now. Quote
EdsBar Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 My buddy Brian and I went to Hanover Pond in Meriden on Monday afternoon because there's no ice. We just wanted to try out some new reel combos. It was freakin' cold...and by cold, the excess water was freezing to the eyes on the rod. I'm praying for some warmer weather in a couple of weeks..... Quote
RF813 Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 50's all next week, guys. A few days of rain, but that'll help get rid of a lot of the ice too..... We're almost there! Quote

I liked Hanover. Seemed like a Nice little bank fishing spot. Lots of shoreline. good when you don't have time to take out the boat. I'm assuming you can toss the yak in there but I'm not sure.
