Seats To Fit A Clamp On A Jon Boat

hey guys so ive had my little 10ft jon boat for a few weeks now.  I fish mainly ponds and small lakes most w out ramps which is why I went with such a small model.  Im loving the boat so far its working out exactly how I wanted and even better.  My first mod for this thing I wanted to do was put some seats on it.  As first I was gonna go all out drilling into it or even cutting out a hole and putting some long pole seats in it.  My main reason for this was I didn't expect to be able to stand in this thing at all so I wanted to be top notch in the seats.  Well ive been fishing and stood in this thing for hours at a time and its great.  So I did some research and found the clamps for the bench seats and people seem to have good reviews on them.  That's the route I have decided to go and now im just looking for some seats.  I figured before checking bass pro, cabelas, dicks etc I would check here to see if anyone had some they are looking to get off their hands.  All im looking for is something padded (high or low back is not really a #1 concern for me as im sure I could adapt to either) and something that will screw down onto the clamp, folding would be an added bonus.  If anyone on here has anything they would like to sell or knows someone who is just send me a PM and we can talk.  Or as always feel free to post your recommendations for me!!

Let me fore warn you, the ones like this will make you loose a lot of your religion. You go to lean over sides ways to get a fish or something, and it will fall over with you. Pitching your butt in the water of making you drop anything in your hands to try and grab on. I've been using this mount, front and rear for years now, and they work great. The only thing, I don't lock it under the small, rear channel, I turn it over and just let the seat sit on it, makes it a whole lot easier to get in and out and to adjust from side to side. Thanks for the info, those seats were the ones I was looking at.  About the first clamps you mentioned they can tip sideways, did you screw them into the bench seat or just clamp it down?? I feel like screwing it in would eliminate the sideways tipping and perhaps you need more than a thumb tightening of the screws in the clamp.

I don't think any amount of tightening will keep them from flipping over sideways. I did finally put two large lag screws in each corner at the bottom of the loop, but then who wants to screw and unscrew them every time you use them. I don't leave my seats in the jon boat because some time's, it may be a year between times I use it. I finally went with the system I showed, many years ago, and made life simpler. I still have a few of those old brackets and still have a seat on one because on rare occasions I may go in someone else's boat, and with my back, I have to have a seat.

If you want to make a permanent mount, you can just bolt the swivel directly to the boat, or bolt it to a piece of plywood to spread the stress, so it doesn't tear loose over time, and then bolt the plywood to the bench.

Regular pedistal bases will work fine on metal seats as long as you don't use a pole on them to sit higher and fish.  I have several mounted in my Tracker 1542 and these boats are made of very thin aluminum.  Makes removing or swapping seats as easy as any other bass boat.  If you think later you might want them elevated then the seats will need to be reinforced with either some thicker aluminum or plywood first.  And yes the seat clamps suck.  I have several that are still brand new I would let you have for free if you were close.

The highest rise I would ever put on them is the 7" one just so it doesn't get to tippy. So you just screw the swivel into the aluminum?? And if I were to put the riser in it screw the swivel and riser onto some plywood an then onto the bench?

Most people use the toggle bolts.  I used the expanding hex fasteners.  Toggles are the best solution unless you have access to the underside of the seat.  Then nuts and bolts can be used.

Screws will not hold these bases since there is still guite a bit of sideways pressures from the 2-3 inches of seat post sticking up.  I am talking these just in case.

I have used the aluminum ones way2slow showed and have them tek screwed right into my bench. I slid 7" pedestal mounts right into the brackets. It has worked perfect for 4+ years. I would not screw the pedestals directly into the bench, they will end up ripping out of the bench if you lean back/forward enough.
