Do You Think These Will Work?

Poured some 1/8th oz round head jigs with 4/0 hooks. Power painted them and got the eyes painted on. Put one on a straight work and one on a craw. Then a wobble head jig in 3/8 oz with a 1/0 hook and have one of my old Brush hogs on it. Will be using these as shaky head jigs

 and thinking that wobble head may be the ticket on the fall. As it will look more like a dying minnow on the fall each time.

Will pour some 1/4 oz round head with 3/0 and 4/0 hooks next week to see how they turn out. Along with some stand up head with the same hooks.

Box them up and mail them to me so I can get rid of them based on the proper EPA directives!!!!!

 

Then again...they look super. Give 'em a whack and let us know what happens.

 

You may want to consider running the barb through the plastic's skin to make it more weedless. Should not mess up the action.

Those are massive hooks for those little jigs, but I'm sure they'll work just fine. There are times when I wish I had jigheads like this.

I'm sure that they will.  I use 2/0 quite a bit and they do just fine.

I plan on pouring some with 1/0,2/0,3/0 and the 4/0's. Will try to get enough to give away in Al in May. Any ideals on the colors?

What you have done there is create a jigworm, basically the predecessor to what we now call a shakyhead It's just a worm or other plastic ran onto the hook with the point exposed. It's very effective but tends to snag a lot so it's best fished around weed lines, gravel, sand, mud, or small rock.

I think head colors are mainly in the fisherman's head.  I fished for years with no paint on the heads at all.  It wasn't until boat docks started buying my jigs that I ever started painting the heads.

Most of my fishing these will be on pea gravel for smallmouth and largemouth. Will also use them as a shaky head, along with run them on a Al rig. Plus tied some with fish hair, I Know its old School stuff. But man its deadly on smallmouth for some reason. PLus can tie a mono hook guard into them with the hair also.

As for color, back round 83 when I started bass fishing hard. I only used unpainted heads unless I was crappie fishing. Until I found out at times a colored head did hide it better. Have some sand colored power paint mixed up. Will try some in that where it tries to blend into the bottom and let the worm look natural.
