You can't have a better Curado with more technology and updated materials and expect the price to stay the same.  If I remember correctly, the Curado D was a $199 reel, the E actually went down and the G went down again.  I would much rather pay $200 for a better reel.  They tried a budget friendly reel in the G, that didn't go over too well.  You can't have it both ways.

Exactly this ^. Expect to see the quality and solidity of the D series.

To get the quality you are looking for, you have to pay a bit more.

It isn't a guess really.. Multiple sources have told me the pricing will be at least $199. You will get MUCH more out of your two bills with a new curado compared to the chronarch E. I promise.

I love how everyone's own 'source' knows what's real. Keep the speculations comming!

Havent seen any 50 size reports shimano must be doing away with  50's.

LOL

gets worse and worse 165 to 180 now 200 or so for a non Japan made reel nxt check will see 220

Would you rather them charge $430 for a all carbon composite reel NOT made in Japan like some other company is doing? lol

They don't normally release the 50 size reels, previously the 100 size reels, at the same time as the 100/200 size reels.  If there is going to be a smaller version it will come later.  They only did it with the Chronarch E because they already had the tooling and were already making the Curado 50E.

Ok..... I will say this I never liked Shimano reels. Long time Diawa guy and lews.... When Shimano brought HEG To freshwater baitcasters I bought a 200d 5.1 and was blown away. Unloaded all my reels and have used Shimano ever since. It really was the best 200.00$ reel I ever bought I have many Shimanos now and will stand by this company... For me this speculation.. It's just fun.. That's all just good ole fun!

From the sounds of it, its supposed to be 169.99. At least according to the couple people that have handled them. Who knows.

Tatula for the win then :Idontknow:

If they charge more than 200 they are encroaching into the ci4+ market. Why would they step on their own foot? I have a feeling they might discontinue the chronarch and put this curado in that price point, or they will keep it at 160, which makes no sense if it does fish better than a chronarch.

200 is an important price point, they need to have a competitive reel there....what else is going to fill that role? Also, the curado name has been their 'work horse' reel. If they charge any more it move out of the average enthusiast's price range.

Well, they could, depending on what their profit margins are on the G series Curado. They could dip into that if there is room.

Multiple new reel (and rod) releases this year. Wouldn't be surprised if the Citica and the Chronarch also get updates.

It would be unfortunate if the Curado, their workhorse reel at an affordable price point for many years, jumped out of that price bracket. So, maybe they are going to release a new reel to compete in that highly competitive price point to compete with the Tatula? You'd think they'd keep the Curado name there, but as long as that reel is a good one that is fine with me. However, if they move the Curado above $200 I would most likely just get the Chronarch Ci4+. I have one already and it's awesome.

Why not just discontinue the chronarch e series and introduce the curado there. Seems weird to have both chronarch and chronarch ci4....

They haven't done it with the Stradic yet. There is still the "regular" and the Ci4

True....but If the new curado is going to have features of the ci4, then why keep regular chronarch which many may view as a step down..

I did read that the Core was going to be discontinued. I do not have one.. I may grab one But i will wait and see what the new curado is like first

I don't imagine the Chronarch E will be around for much longer.  It will be directly competing with the new Curado, the Ch CI4 puts the Chronarch back at the price point it belongs and the E series reels have been around since '09.  That is purely speculation on my part though.

It will probably be 199.99

core will probably get an update. I am guessing SVS infinity and x-ship..

That is exactly what is going to happen I think.

The chronarch E is priced at $199 and it doesn't quite enroach the ci4+ market.. The new curado is likely going to be priced at 199 as well, so I don't think it will be a problem..

If the curado was priced lower than $199, no one would buy the Ci4+ because the curado would be so much cheaper. Yeah, it's that good. :eyebrows:

Tatula for the win then :Idontknow:

That is purely personal opinion..

I can't say anymore or I will get myself into trouble! LOL

If Daiwa can come out with a great(by all indication so far) tatula at 150 with new tech tws air rotation  shimano could bring out the new curado with its somewhat newer tech x ship- braking system.
