65panhed Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Has anyone seen Lake Texoma Lower than its present level? 609.18 normal level to me is 617-619 above sea level. Quote
65panhed Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 Elevation 608.9 this is lowest since the mid 70z, and still goin down. Called Corps and they can take it down to 590 ft. 70% of lake in Oklahoma yet Texas gets 100% electricity generated. Quote
bighed Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Good thing is it has a huge watershed. The low level is also leaving the zebras high and dry and when it does refill it will take a while for them to come back. That said, all our lakes are hurting in North TX. I live 2 miles from Lavon where Texoma water will again be pumped and it is 12 1/2' low at present. Considering it's a very shallow lake, that is the bulk of it's storage capacity. Quote
flyingmonkie Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 I'm a frequent visitor of Murray, about 20 minutes north of Texoma - it too is at record lows. The locals say they've never seen it this low (between 8-12 feet the past 2 years). It's a deep clear lake with very little watershed. The running joke is that it will take 8 feet of rain to fill it up. :/ Quote
