sizzlefry Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 If you really want to get it registered you can do it at the KC office on 83rd street and K7 in Lenexa. I did that with my John boat and it took me about 10 minutes. I got mine last winter but I don't know if they mail them out by last name or not like other taxes. I got them both done thx Clayton Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 8, 2014 Author Global Moderator Posted March 8, 2014 I'm a possible for the 20th depending on the weather. I can go as aĀ non-boater or a boater if my boat trailer tagged. I sure do love my liberal leave policy at work. If you're going to make it and need a partner let me know. Sizzle could fish out of his 2 man, but with a 400 acre lake it would be better if he didn't.Ā Quote
cbass12 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Unfortunately I'm out for the trout day, Mom is retiring and expects me to come to her retirement party. Going to try to get out there this Thursday and fish it out before you guys have a chance at itĀ Ā Quote

Troy Taylor Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I won't be making it to Shawnee either. But for what is worth last year we had our best luck off the big radius shore line off of golf course. Located at the south east side off the lake. You can follow the shore into a good sized cove but always had better luck out towards the bigger water casting towards that shore area. Also had the best luck with the small yellow rooster tails. Hope this can help some of ya. If you look at a map it's easy to see where I'm describing. Good luck and have fun. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 14, 2014 Author Global Moderator Posted March 14, 2014 If you're planning on being at Lake Shawnee next week either let me know on here or shoot me a PM. I think the fishing should be pretty good by next week when the water is a few degrees warmer hopefully. More than anything I hope nobody has to deal with the special group of people that were on the water yesterday. This is a family friendly forum so I can't really say what I thought about them other than I don't know how someone can even operate a boat or a fishing rod with their heads that far up their backsides. I think for times we should shoot for 8am-2 or 3 pm unless everyone wants to start and end different times. We'll do a weight tourny again. Trout are pretty fragile so I'd suggest either just popping the scale hook through their bottom jaw and try not to touch them too much (unless you're keeping them) or weight them in your net and then subtract the weight of your net from the total weight. Also remember if you're keeping them, once they're in the livewell you can't cull them like in a bass tournament. Also, once you reach your boats limit you can't keep fishing for trout.Ā Since this is a trout tournament I'm going to make a couple exceptions to the normal bass fishing rules.Ā 1.You can trollĀ 2.Live bait and prepared bait (powerbait) will be allowed, BUT!, if you choose to fish either the fish you catch on them MUST go on your card towards your total weight and that weight can not be culled off your card. So if you catch a 1 pound trout as your 5th fish on powerbait and it's your smallest fish, if you catch a bigger fish it can only cull off the weight of your second smallest fish. This allows anyone who wants or needs to fish with livebait or powerbait the opportunity but also levels the playing field a little for those who are only going to fish lures. I'd also highly suggest if you plan on fishing livebait or powerbait that you don't release those fish. They normally have the hook swallowed and die shortly after release. I really don't want anyone leaving dead fish floating all over the lake. If if a fish does die on you, keep it even if you don't want it, someone will take it. As of right now the only ones I know that are planning on being there are; Ā 03Stratos/basshunter0731/Jackson Hi Salenity/bluebasser86 RJ/Sizzle Quote

Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 20, 2014 Super User Posted March 20, 2014 They have lowered the wind forecast some, it's now 9-20 and gusts under 15 until after noon. Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 21, 2014 Author Global Moderator Posted March 21, 2014 Well the trout deal went pretty well, all things considered. We only had the 3 boats show up so it was even less formal than usual. Curt and I started on the dam and I put 2 in the boat pretty quick, one on a Ned, one on a home made trout jig under a bobber. We tried a spot that was good last year and struck out. In the 45 minutes it took us to do that, the wind went from zero to over 20mph and white capping. I missed a few bites on my jig and bobber before we tucked into a little cut with a small dock and started cleaning up on them with jigs and a little cleo. Caught a few bass there too. Jon, Jared, and Jackson joined us in our somewhat protected area and we decided to leave since the action had slowed by then. Tried a bunch more spots and never caught another trout until we fished the boat ramp as we were loading up. Jackson had fished all day without a fish, apparently he just needed one of my homemade trout jigs because he whacked 3 good ones right off the boat ramp dock Curt and I had first with 12lbs 14ozs, RJ had big fish with a 3lb 6oz (I think) trout. It was a little slower than last year still but quite a few fish were still caught but no real monsters. Ā Looking forward to the Razor Clam Classic next month! Quote
RJ986 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I thought you had the biggest fish Clayton. Mine was just over 3lbs (3.06lbs). However, Sizzle was convinced my scale was weighing his fish light, maybe mine too?Ā Quote

My biggest was only 3lbs 1oz on Curt's scale but it only measured in whole ounces and it may round up once they're over a certain amount. Quote
Wachati Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Less than 3 weeks from Melvern, do we have an idea who's fishing, and who's fishing with who. We're not doing eating afterwards is what I read in the earlier posts I believe. Quote
