Super User Hi Salenity Posted April 14, 2014 Super User Posted April 14, 2014 Hi Salenity can I ride with you? I'm fishing with Peter again. He's got a birthday party to go to and will probably have to leave early but we should have 100" of fish by then. Lol Quote

Lol 100" of fish on your scorecard won't do you much good since we're weighing them again Quote
SuperFluke Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Go ahead and put me down for this Saturday. It's completely dependent on whether or not my wife gives birth this week or not, but I'm hoping to make it. I also hope to make it down there on Friday for a little pre-fishing since it's Good Friday and I have the day off. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 15, 2014 Author Global Moderator Posted April 15, 2014 I'm not positive who all is fishing but I know a few and will try to get it figured out for sure to get a list up. No food afterwards but we could go to Beto Junction if we wanted to get some food afterwards. The people/teams I'm pretty sure are going to be there as of right now; Bluebasser86/Mrs.Blue Mr_Scrogg/kanasbassfisher08 Hi Salenity/Wachati Basshunter0731/Allday CCC Drew/CCC Senior Cbass12/Chris G sizzlefry/Chri Schauer RJ_986/partner Superfluke/??? If anyone needs added/deleted/paired up on that list just let me know. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 16, 2014 Author Global Moderator Posted April 16, 2014 So I'm thinking we get the party started at 7:30 and fish until 3. Anyone have any problems with those times? Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted April 16, 2014 Super User Posted April 16, 2014 They've bumped the winds back up to 13-22 for Saturday. Would it be a problem for anyone to change the times back an hour? 6:30-2 may be nicer weather to fish. Not to mention Peter has to leave at 2 and I'd be without my partner. LOL Quote
SuperFluke Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Earlier does look better. My vote would be to move it up to a 6:30 start. Quote
cbass12 Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 I'm going tomorrow and they're saying NNE at 6-10, hopefully that happens. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 17, 2014 Author Global Moderator Posted April 17, 2014 If we start at 6:30 it's just starting to get light right about then. I have no problem with it other than the fact my partner isn't going to be happy having to get up that early I think we may want to make trailoring an option as well with the wind. We can all meet at the normal state park ramp but if you don't want to launch from that ramp you can drive to whichever ramp you want to use and launch, just have to be back at the state park ramp by take out? Maybe prevent a few people from getting soaked from long runs down the lake in a strong wind (myself especially ). This will be a weight touranment just like last time. Going on the honor system, must weigh them on a DIGITAL scale, and I think we should probably have a 12 or 15 inch minimum length limit to weigh a fish, just to make it even more interesting. I'll try to remember cards and pens for everyone this time Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted April 17, 2014 Super User Posted April 17, 2014 The marina ramp is closer to everyone's house by about 10 minutes if your partner needed a few more minutes of sleep... Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 17, 2014 Author Global Moderator Posted April 17, 2014 The marina ramp is closer to everyone's house by about 10 minutes if your partner needed a few more minutes of sleep... She'll be able to sleep the whole way down there and I'm sure she will. I have no intentions of launching from the marina but if that's where everyone else wants to launch from to try to combat the wind (or further down at Arrow Rock, kind of midway down the lake and still on the south side?) That would probably be even closer still since you don't have to go as far up 75 to get to it. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted April 17, 2014 Super User Posted April 17, 2014 I swore I looked at the weather last night and it showed 11mph winds for Saturday but I just looked again and saw 26mph winds!!! Quote

That's what they forecasted for clinton last week... and it was a nightmare. 2-3 foot rollers. Quote
cbass12 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I hope it gets better by tomorrow, because it sucked yesterday. The wind was stronger than they said it was supposed to be and it was down right cold. We caught white bass fairly steady all day but really couldn't find the brown fish. Did get a 16" walleye. We caught maybe 6 smallies between us and most of those came on a 50 yard stretch of bank. All fish were caught on jerkbaits except for a little smallie in the marina cove on a shakyhead. This, unfortunately, was the biggest Quote

SuperFluke Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Fished Melvern today with a buddy. My report is a lot like cbass12. It wasn't nearly as good as I expected. Boated 4 smallmouth and 2 largemouth between the two of us. Caught whites regularly, and boated a keeper walleye that my buddy kept. Two of my smallmouth were over 2.5lbs (2.62 and 2.66 lbs). One of my largemouth was a 2lb'r, which I caught back in the standing timber . Heartbreaker of the day came at the dam, again. I hooked into an absolute pig of a smallmouth that I know would have gone at least 4 lbs. Fought it for a long time, and finally got it to the boat. It did a couple of jumps right as I was reaching down for it and came unbuttoned! Hopefully things go better for everyone tomorrow, but I think you're doing really well to get over 10lbs. Water temps 53-56 My biggest at 2.66 lbs on a jerkbait. Still hoping to see you all out there tomorrow at 6:30. Quote
SuperFluke Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 By the way, I tested my rapala scale tonight with one that is super accurate, and I know mine is right on. If you want to check yours against mine let me know at the ramp. Quote

I think the weather is improving the mood of the fish (at least that's what I'm hoping). Quote
