Jon G Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 On one of the very few revo stx gen 3 i own the spool tension knob has given me issues. I have seen many peple have the same problem when adjusting a lure with the knob i crank it all the way and the thing still wont allow a lure to fall slightly not only that but the clicker on the knob does not work does anybody know how to fix it without sending it back to abu (cant do that currently) I was thinking i may be missing the click spring because i havent seen it when i disassembled it, its not inside a click washer is it? MrTexasRigs Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 It sounds like you had the same problem as me with my brand new SX. I would tighten it down the whole way and the spool would still keep spinning for the most part. I took out the metal clicker and it seemed to kind of alleviate the problem. I got mine to start clicking again once I sat the metal piece on the plastic gear that makes the noise. I think you just have to mess with it to click. I don't know if your reel was new, but mine seemed to sort its self out once I made multiple casts and played with it for a little while in the yard. I may not have answered your question, I just thought I'd share with you, what mine had done. Also the clicker is not necessary...you probably already new that Quote

jsc4324 Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 When you take the tension knob off is there a little black disc on the reel side? There should be a metal part in the knob and another black disc under it. If the met part is upside down you will not hear the click. Quote

baluga Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 It happened to my Revo when some of the parts inside the tension knob fell off. Check the schematics and compare it to what's inside your Revo tension knob. Quote

Jon G Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 All i am missing is the click spring labeled as part #1125769 the other thing i noticed is the click washer labeled as part #1125772 will not stay inside the knob so im also wondering if that could cause the problem because on a Lews Tourney Mg (I know its a lot different than the STX) the tension knob clicks as well and all the parts stay inside the knob. So if that causes the problem i was thinking a small amount of epoxy might help but my gut says that may be a bad idea Quote
JeziHogg Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I was assuming it had a red disc, I just looked onto the inside of my winch and its there (They're both made on the same platform). It should have some sort of shim in it either way. Quote

You are missing the click plate #1125769 The black plate with the single nib on the back and cup that holds the spool shaft shim and backer, that is sitting next to your cast control cap (CCC) in the pic, sits in the cap. We add a little grease to hold it into place, make sure the little nib goes into the hole in the CCC . Next you should locate your click plate or order one from PF, now it is installed with the dimple up, and sits on that black peice. The black piece with the 2 large nibs, it is mounted onto the top of the bearing pack and the black nibs, sit into the 2 indents in the frame that holds the bearing pack. The 2 things you need to make sure you have is the metal click plate, and the rubber backer behind the shim. Also don't let anyone tell you that the parts are not important and don't need to be there. If that was true then ABU wouldn't have put them in the reel...MPO!! Right it is a super small hard plastic ring that spaces the shim... The biggest proplem I have with ABU/PF schematics is no descriptions for the parts just big d**n numbers. Every part in that assembly has a part number instead of being a total single assembly. Oh well some day PF might get it right, ABU couldn't. Good Luck & Tight Lines! Quote
