hoosierbass07 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 OK, I'm a Shimano guy. I love their spinning reels. I have three, two Sahara's and a Symetre. I bought one Pflueger President spinning reel and took it back twelve hours later and exchanged it for another Shimano. I really like the quality and design of Shimano. However, I don't want to use only Shimano gear. I am going to buy more Shimano reels but I would like to own another brand too. How is the quality of Daiwa spinning reels? Are they anywhere near the quality of Shimano? I'm interested in spinning reels around $100 to $115.00 and the Daiwa Lexa spinning reel seem to be in that range. Is the Daiwa Lexa considered a good reel for bass fishing? Thanks! Quote
Avaitor63 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I have the Daiwa Lexa 2500 and found it to be a very good reel for the money.Very smooth on the cast and retrieve.I use 30LB PowerPro on my reel. Hoped that helped,Catch that lunker. 1 Quote
0119 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I prefer my Lexa 3000 to my Stradic FJ 3000. Only downside is the hard plastic grip has sharp edges around the chromed cap. It feels smoother, longer casting spool design and much tougher finish. 1 Quote

Is the Daiwa Lexa considered a good reel for bass fishing? Thanks! I have two Stradic 1000FI reels, and a Lexa 2000. I like them all -- a LOT. Been extremely impressed with the smoothness of the Lexa in every aspect, but especially the bail. There's something about it that I like better than all my Shimano reels (also have a Sahara and a couple Spirex reels). The Lexa has a more positive engagement, solid clicking. None of my Shimanos are as good, IMO, as the Lexa here. The Stradics are extremely smooth, and at the price I paid for each, they better be. But the bail arm on one needs to be fixed, I may send it to DVT when I can. If I had to buy a reel today in the price range of the Lexa, I'd very likely pick another Lexa over the Shimano offerings.
