Dr. Watson Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Anyone fished this area? I'm under the impression that it is a feeder creek for Lake Okeechobee and has some pretty good fishing in it. My parents plan to camp there next month and my dad and I want to get some good quality father-son fishing in. If you have some tips or colors to use in this area, please share; it's been a while since I've been in the Okeechobee area. Quote

LarryC7856 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I havent been to Fish Eating Creek in many years but when I did go there the fishing was great. The most important thing is to spend some quality time with your dad, the good fishing will be there. Quote
Super User geo g Posted January 17, 2014 Super User Posted January 17, 2014 I have fished Fish Eating Creek from the main road west of the lake, to the lake. There was a blockage right before the lake. I have caught nice bass in there, and it is a nice sandy bottom because of the current. Be carefull running further west from the road, a friend ruined his motor sucking up way too much sand. Quote
GLADES Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I fished/canoed there in the 70's. A very nice semi remote area if nothing has changed. Lots of Cyprus trees and shallow clear water in the creek. Lots of small bass and chain pickeral. If you are fishing from a canoe, use a short length light action rod with smaller plastics. Depending on where you are in the creek, There will be lots of trees over head on the canoe trail. Check you tube for video of the area. Quote

Jeff Yea, the wife and I decided to move back to our homeland, lol. If you're ever down don't be afraid to drop me a line and we'll go throw some lines in the water. It is a perfect spot for a Kayak, and not much boat traffic. Good luck, let us know how you do. Watch for the big gators! Quote
