Yesterday, (Wednesday), standing in my backyard practice casting, with my new Ci4, while the snow was really coming down hard. Heard one of my neighbors say, "well, the old man has finally gone bonkers". They just don't understand...lol.

Beside from looking senile Hooti, hows the reel? It's my next consideration for purchasing. Any initial gripes?

Actually, with just backyard cat fishing, (my neighbors cat chases my practice plug), it cast perfectly right out of the box. It comes with 2 brakes on, didn't see any reason to change that. I set the outside dial on 2, and it was perfect.

I can tell you, I know I'll be getting another. But I am going to let this one cool off before I tell my "UNDERSTANDING" wife....lol.

Hootie your initial impressions are the same as mine. And I totally understand, when I got mine for Christmas I walked out to the creek behind my house to play even though we had some ice on the creek.

It was my first higher reel and I was stunned at how smooth and effortless casting and pitching with it are. And it is just such a comfortable reel to palm and hold the size is perfect for me.

You happen to have any experience with the Daiwa T3? I got of those for myself when TW was having that sale, but I feel the CI4 out performs it and is more comfortable by a mile. Getting ready to exchange it for another CI4 but trying to make sure I'm not crazy for doing so.

That cats gonna be real surprised if you ever practice with a real hook accidently!

Nice pickup Hootie! My neighbors thought I was nuts too casting in my yard after rebuilding my Curado E! Can't wait for Spring but at least I am fishing the hard water!

I would trade, but my decision is based on how much I like this CI4, not a comparison to the Daiwa. The last Daiwas I ever used was back in the 80's.
