lazeebum Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I am curious about hand held GPS units. If I know which waypoints or locations I am going to, will a handheld unit work? Thanks Randy Quote
razorbackbasser Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Yes. I have a handheld Garmin Venture HC Color and use it a lot for things like you mention. Quote
IntroC Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 I have a Garmin Etrex Legend color. I'm don't fish without it. Its great for hunting also. Quote
BobP Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Yep, the most basic function of GPS is to point the way (like a compass needle) to a waypoint, either one you have created in the unit by pressing the "create waypoint" button, or one you have added to the unit manually. If your unit has map display capability, you can see where you are on the map and where your waypoint destination is. That's helpful on an unfamiliar lake. But the basic GPS unit will get you there (and just as important, back to the dock). Quote
