BigAL Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I think its 4ft but if you have it strapped in good and put some caution tape on it I dont think cops will mess with u IMO Quote
jonnysmith Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 yes i plan on strapping it down well, adding (reflective tape)to the back n the side where the boat sticks out of the bed and 2 red warning flags on the back of the boat...i wanted a jon boat as a back up boat n 2be able to fish remote lakes/canals to just dump it over the side n fish. dsidle61 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 You should be good with that for sure. Just put some reflective tape on it. A buddy of mine had a 12 ft boat he put in a 6 foot truck bed with no problems. Just throw 2 rachet straps on it and youre good to go. Quote
jonnysmith Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 yep! 4 sure gonna use heavy duty (rachet straps),im happy i can put it on my truck,i dont have any room left for another trailer in my yard. Quote
dsidle61 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 have you ever tried lifting it before?? Those 14ft ones can get pretty heavy you will almost definitely need a second person to help you load and unload. My friends 15ft one is to heavy to lift even with two guys in their mid 20s and he had to get a trailer for it. Just something to keep in mind. Quote
jonnysmith Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 yes i know buddy i was thinking of that, this 1 weights 150lb with nothing on it,im considering putting an electric winch on my trucks bed to help me pull it in,,ive lunched a 12ft and 14ft over the side of a canal and then poped on the motor n gear, ill admit the 12ft,was a breezz compaired to the 14ft jon boat. jonnysmith Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 i have seen on youtube these ladder racks that u put on ur truck and a winch puts the boat on top and lowers it for you,the problem is its like,$1500.big ones.lol Quote
jonnysmith Posted January 21, 2014 Author Posted January 21, 2014 after going 2 see the 14ft jonboat my buddy was selling and trying to lift it,im really thinking of getting a 12ft.instead,requires less power and way easier to throw in2 a canal over the side and it also sticks out 2ft.less on the bed of my truck..what u all think would go with a 12ft or 14ft jonboat in my case???
