PondBoss Posted December 8, 2010 Author Posted December 8, 2010 Thanks for all the replies. I'm more confused now then ever. But seriously thanks a lot, I had kinda figured on a slightly longer/firmer rod and a high gear ration reel. Really looking forward to fishing for the big ones this winter. ;D Quote

What I tell people is go into a Cabelas and just feel out the rods. Whatever feels right for you and is in your price range, that is the one you should go with. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted December 10, 2010 Super User Posted December 10, 2010 Put it this way. If you want as simple as an answer as can be, here you go. Buy the most sensitive rod you can afford. Find a length thats comfortable for YOU to use. Buy a rod thats got enough power to fish the conditions that YOU normally find yourself fishing in. A medium heavy will serve you well just about anywhere. Quote
goblue Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 here in socal i do most of my jig fishing deeper than 25 feet and drag/ small hops. i also might be in the minority cuz i like a heavy rod. my combo is a dx744, td-z 103h, 12lb toray Quote
