Seriously though, if you're asking about poppers (the lure), my best story is the time the bass were totally ignorning my normal offerings.  I had my fly rod with me and, giving up, had switched to fishing for the billion bluegill in the area.  On a lark, I decided to tie on a big bass popper and although it was too big for my 5-weight rod and although it wasn't pretty, I managed to cast it out some distance.  Those bass acted like they'd never seen anything so delicious in their lives.  They rose to the popper with wild abandon.  I'll never forget that day.

I was fishing a Rebel Pop R one day with my buddy. After a cast my popper caught a gust of wind and produced a nasty birds nest in my reel. My lure was in the water just floating there while I was untangling the mess. I heard a fish splash in the water, but I never paid attention to it nor did I even look up. A second splash happens and my buddy asks if I have a fish on. Without looking up, I just said no, I'm trying to pull this birds nest apart. I just get the mess untangled and the splash again. I reel up all the slack only to find out I had a 4 lb smallie on. My buddy looks at me and say's "I told you, you bone head". ;D

Wound up with lunker smallie that day in the tourney.  ;D

Not sure, but I think you can only get from Japan.

A popper is a topwater lure that you can make dance on the water when using the right techniques.  Lots of successful fisherman use them:  Rick Clunn, John Murray, George Kramer, ect.

I'd love to hear your great fishing stories.  So stop being a pooper and share some.

I have a rod that I have in my collection that came to me by a funny misunderstanding... One of my fishing buds went on vacation and I took care of his house pets and farm chores for the week.  One day I got kicked by a cow, didn't even hurt.  The same day the guy's cat bit me, again no big deal, no blood. 

By the time it back to him I had a serious head wound and my arm was in stitches.  He felt so bad that he bought me a new rod/reel combo. We both had a good laugh over it and to this day that rod is one of my favorites.

I've been bass fishing for over 30 years, and I had the best morning last year.  I caught over 50 fish in 3 hours, and the average size was 5 ~6lb. 

The first 22 fish I caught in the morning was on the Rio Rico.  Only 2 fish out of 22 were less than 5lb.  The average was about 7lb, the biggest one was 9.5lb, and I lost a 10 or 11 pounder.  It was just crazy.  All the big fish were jumping by the bank.  My boat basically stayed in the same spot, and this all happened in the first hour of the morning.  It was unbelievable.
