I just saw a commercial on tv for the Gulp stuff, which is what lead to me making this thread. Personally I dont use any, but the thought has crossed my mind a few times in th past couple of years.  Anyone using any? Do you like them, or no?

Do you think they work? Maybe someone can convince me to try one of them :fishing1:

I've used the Bang aerosol stuff. Bought it on a whim from the local Wally World after fishing with a friend who had been using it a day prior when we went out. I have to say, as skeptical as I was at first, it actually seems to work. I don't know whether they actually like the smell of garlic (or any other scent) or it just effectively hides my scent, but I noticed a pretty significant hookup increase with soft plastics when I used it. I used it mostly on Senkos but I also applied it to jigs and flipping jigs, it did actually seem to result in a couple more fish.

I just got a jar of JJ's Magic this weekend which smells about 5 times stronger than the Bang, so I'm interested to see if it works.

I've not tried the MegaStrike.....but I keep seeing good things about it.

I think the concept is relatively logical.....fish can smell much better than us, so any and every foreign smell that might deter them that can be covered is good. I guess when all logic fails, you could use the arguement that it can't hurt your chances, so might as well try it.

Long before Bobby became a BassResource.com sponsor I was a HUGE fan of MegaStrike.

Give it a try and see what you think:  http://www.megastrike.com/

You can't argue good advice. Every soft plastic I use has a dab of Megastrike on it. Even those that are already scented. I use Original, crawfish and Garlic.

Scent cant hurt, it can only help. Bass have a good sense of smell. I only use it when the fishing gets real tough. Then I'm looking for every advantage. Too lazy to use it on a good day. I usually use Bang, it started as a local Florida company.

Lathering up your presentation with a quality scent is a good idea for a few reason.  Of course the obvious is to hopefully convince your quarry that your phony bait is something they should hold onto long enough for you to get a decent hook up.   With lubricating properties, it also helps your rig slip into, through and out of tight quarters.  And if you are a fisher of swim baits, this same lubrication may also help your baits last a little longer by causing less damage to the bait during the hook set.

I use Pro-Cure  This product comes is over 50 "Flavors" for both fresh & saltwater applications.

I'm partial to the "Trophy Bass" scent.

I use Megastrike on everything that dosen't have it's own scent. Baits like powerbait, netbait, SK w/the coffee scent I fish as is.

I have some JJs, and used it once (so far). Otherwise, I'm usually armed with some Megastrike.

I like JJs, but it is SOOO strong, that I almost can't stand having it around. Time will tell, but I am leaning toward staying with Megastrike.

Regardless, I definitely like having something available to cover as much of MY scent as possible.

I've been using Kick'n Bass but I just placed an order for some megastrike to use on hudds. Not only does scent act as an attractant, but it also can mask the smell of plastic.

This....I will add, besides smelling like something a fish eats, it also helps cover up your scent.

I use Pro-Cure also.

I bought a can of garlic scented bang last year compliments of the bait monkey and have yet to give it a go.I always wondered why we decided that bass like garlic.lol

megastrike user. i believe, if anything, it will make a bass hold the bait that fraction of a second longer to get your hookset on him. plus its a confidence thing,,,and we all know how impotant that is.

That's an easy answer. All bass are Italian by nature.

I used Megastrike for the first time last year... I have to admit, I didn't see anything that appeared to be an uptick in hook-ups and fish landed.  But, I've heard fisherman up here calling it an off year in general.

So, we'll try it again in 2014 and see...  People on here absolutely rave about it, and clearly they're doing so honestly.  Lots of people have a lot of confidence in it.

I bought a tube of megastrike but lost it before I could get a lot of use out of it. :P I guess I will just have to buy another! I do remember one instance where I was standing in one spot from shore, had my first nibble in 30 minutes or so, and swung and missed the fish. I came back 10 minutes later with the same 4" tube I used except I sprayed some YUM scent on/in it. A 10 inch bass absolutely creamed the tube, so I do think that scent can make a difference at times.

I use Powerteam Lures HogTonic on my plastics, unless i want to dye them , then its JJ's for the color. I tend to use Bio Stick on my hard baits because it has an almost lip balm consistancy and stays on the bait longer. my plastics are always treated and i treat my hard baits when it gets tough, or in really clear water conditions.

Have used Smelly Jelly and Yum with some great results

Just picked up a tube of Megastrike. Can't wait to see if I notice a difference.  Just need winter to end first.

Have used megastrike and not noticed a difference at all.

Yet I am paranoid if I don't use powerbait brand soft plastics...so it would seem that would negate my impartial feelings towards scent/taste being important.
